Serviceman first came out June 4th, on time, and checked the air handler, determined it was a faulty circuit board in the blower motor, and the motor would have to be replaced, under warranty, but had to be ordered. The serviceman got the old motor running, to allow the AC to work until the motor could be replaced, but that the same issue would reappear without replacoing the motor.
The office called me on the 6th that they had the motor, and we cheduled to have him come out on June 9th to install. Appointment was made to come between 11 AM and 1 PM, and the repairmen (2) arrived at 10:45 AM, replacement was done in 20 minutes.
I have used The Dan Wright Corp. several times in the past, and they have always provided me with good, prompt service, and their work has always been reliable.
Around midnight I discovered quite a bit of water coming from the ceiling below the air handler. Their answering service has and quot;after hoursand quot; option. True, but they neglect to tell you after hours only means up until 9:30 pm - an important thing to know when water in coming through the ceiling at midnight. They did arrive first thing the next day. After just a few minutes the technician came down from the attic and informed me the roof was leaking and the ac was in no way at fault. It is a fairly new metal roof, but it has been through many torrential rains previously (and since) and has not leaked into the house. He claimed that the wind was from an unusual direction. The was no charge for this second visit. It is interesting that the ceiling has had no more water after that visit even though the roof is supposedly leaking, and we have had hard enough rain blowing sideways that I could not see the road in front of the house. I was not in the attic to observe what was done as it was done. The second tech may have been telling the truth, leaks in roofs can be tricky things and it's true there are water marks on the beams in the attic, but I can not tell their age. Mother nature did exactly replicate the conditions that the second tech claimed led to the leak the next week. There was no water inside the house. I have a suspicion that the first tech was harried, tired, in an unbearably hot attic and something accidental occurred that resulted in drywall damage in the house. To save face, the second tech blamed the roof. This is only a nagging feeling in my gut, but it was a suspicious chain of events. Suspicious enough I will continue to look for a 'go to' company to call.
