After discovering some leaking behind my shower wall, I called my plumber and he diagnosed that the shower tray would need to be replaced.  In order to do that, the shower floor would need to be pulled up and the entire shower re-tiled.  He introduced me to his tile guy (John Schmidt) who would do the tile portion while the plumber replaced the shower tray.  After the work was done, the shower looked pretty good and I was happy with it.  But about a month later, a crack started forming in the corner of the shower that went up about 2 feet.  I contacted John and he said that his crew would be out the following Friday to repair it.  Come Friday, the crew never showed up.  I left a voice mail with John that he never returned.  Throughout a period of about 2 months, I tried to contact John 4 more times with no return call.  In that time, the other corner of the shower started to crack as well as a corner area on the floor of the shower.  Finally, I called my plumber who recommended him and told him what was going on.  Within 10 minutes, John called me back.  He came out the following week and patched up the cracks in my shower.  I have not had any other issues since then.  Other than the cracks, the work itself was good, but since his response to my problem never happened until I went to the plumber, it lowered his letter rating at least a whole letter.

I recently had my master bath shower retiled by Schmidts
Tile.  This was a particularly difficult
job because it involved removing a substantial amount of existing plaster/wire
reinforced wall in a 1958 home.  I know
how hard it was because I attempted to do it myself and quickly realized I
needed an expert with the right tools.
Schmidts did an outstanding job that exceeded my
expectations.  Since the original tile is
no longer available, they gave me several different options for blending modern
materials with the existing tile in the rest of the bathroom (including fixing
a mistake I made).   In addition to the high quality work,  John Schmidts is a great guy to work
with.  I will not hesitate to call John
in the future for any tile job I need; large or small.
