Simply put-Amazed! In the midst of a pandemic, during pool season, when the sun is brutally unforgiving and rain showers pop up unannounced, the process from start to finish was seamless. And FAST! Full marks, across the board for Hawaiian Island and the contractors. Excellent Communication Professionalism Courtesy Prompt responses to every question or concern we had. Outstanding experience, even better result!

Well let me start by saying it could have been a lot better. There were some workers that were foul mouthed and unprofessional. The plans originally discussed were not followed and when questioned we were challenged and ignored. (1) the quality of craftsmanship is subpar and after 2 weeks there is an area that has settled leaving basically no sand between pavers. When I contacted the owner he defended his crew and acted like they would be out to look at it. its been a month and no one ever showed. (2) the walkway was supposed to be curved a certain way when originally discussed but since they don't write anything down the crew designed it differently making it difficult to transition from walkway to driveway and into a vehicle. (3) As they were laying the sand and washing it down the shoveled excess sand into my yard killing patches of grass. (4) Originally when they quoted the job they assured us they would move any sprinklers that needed moved and that is was included in price. But when the time came to move the sprinklers they became overwhelmed and irritated and just wanted to cap a lot of them off. Its good I was there making them do it correctly or I would not have the sprinkler needed. (5) Every time I expressed a concern during the process I always got the feeling their pride got in the way and I was never really listened to. I know this review is a little confusing but I normally don't do reviews and I'm in a hurry. but thought I should share my experience.

We couldn't be happier with the outcome. Lee came out personally several times to go over all the details with us. From start to finish this process was easy and efficient. This company is amazing and we would highly recommend them to anyone considering a pool. We are thrilled we went with fiberglass (and not concrete) the finished product is incredible and it has added so much value and beauty to our home!! THANK YOU!

First incident occurred after giving Mr. Slade( Hawaiian Island Pools Inc.) deposit of 2500.00 .Mr.Slade had promised pool would be completed first week in November. After 3 Weeks of hearing nothing and job not being started we called Mr. Slade .He apologized and told us he had been busy.Also stated he would Start pool asap.Pool was installed on October 16th.We gave Mr Slade Another 19,734.00 at that time.Second incident was the decking around pool . Mr. Slade's workers told my husband & I that decking on back side of pool was too narrow the way they were told by Mr. Slade to do it .They also told us Same decking needed support . Mr Slade was called by Mrs. Sorbara and he was told what had transpired with his employees and what we had been told by them .His exact words were" you signed an agreement and you have to pay no matter what"! Mr. Slade also stated that his employees would be pulled off the job!! Needless to say we were Shocked!! MrsSorbara told mr Sorbara and mr. Slades employees what was said to her Mr Slades Employees left ..Angie"s List was called immediately and told what had transpired . They were very understanding and supportive .Mr. Slade then called Mr. Sorbara and appolagized for the way he spoke to his wife . Mr. Slade stated he would make everything right . We decided to give him a second chance so there was no follow up with Angie's List at that time.We waited weeks while Mr. Slade sought to replace his Employees to finish deck.We assumed they were Fired .Another crew finally came out ,They stated to Mr.& Mrs Sorbara they did not Know how to fix or finish the Deck. Mr. Slade was called immediately ,he stated he would take care of it !! All of a sudden original crew was back on the Job.They ones that had told us deck was not being done right!! County came out and told Mr. Slade he needed to put a wall of support where back deck was narrow . Mr. Slade Told Mr. Sorbara he was not happy about it because it cost him more to do it !! Deck was completed on 11-13-2015 and again mr.& Mrs Sorbara paid promly as agreed another2500.00 ! At that point we had a pool and deck with hudge piles of dirt around it .Pool water was Filthy and it took another 4 weeks for any cage or screening to be started.!! Mr.Slade told Mr. & Mrs. Sorbara pool cage would only take A Day & a Half !! Mr.Slade's Employees finally came for cage & screen .After two weeks of them starting Mr. Sorbara asked Mr. Slades screen crew why it was taking so long . They Stated They did not have the materials needed to do the job properly!! On being told in late November Screen was Finished we were ecstatic!! Finally our Nightmare was over, or so we thought ! We proceed outside to look ,needless to say our joy was short lived ,there were huge holes in screen and no gutters screen was sagging everywhere !! Mr. Slade was called immediately. Mr.Slade came out and looked at job and agreed it was in need of being redone the right way. He called head of cage installers and the gentleman met him here at our home. We were assured By both parties that it would be fixed !! Holes were repaired and sagging screen ,Gutters were never corrected and when it rains there is a huge waterfall inside our cage because gutters are full of holes ! This has caused Paint on deck to be damaged also and Rust !Last but not Least Mrs. Sorbara went to put her foot on pool step and it was like stepping onto an oil slick! She was holding onto hand rail but steps were so slippery she fell down 3 of then and injured her leg . She could not stand and had excruciating pain. Was taken by mr. Sorbara to urgent care was given pain pills and Anti inflammatory meds And they put a brace on her leg.Mrs Sorbara had to rent a wheelchair also. Mr.Slade was called and told what had happened . Mr Slade told the Sorbara's there was a film on steps and bottom of pool because pool was so Dirty Filter was not working and he was going to replace it ! This information should have been told to mr. & Mrs Sorbara !! It would have prevented mrs. Sorbaras injury !! This was Nondisclosure and should have never Happened.When asked why we were not told Mr. Slade Had No Answer !! Mrs. Sorbara is still enduring the result of Mr. Slade incompetents. Have been in Meese Hospital for a Sonagram. Was told by hospital doctor She needs A Orthopedic Surgeon ! An apt has been Scheduled for Janurary, do not have bill from Hospital as yet .And do not Know what surgeon will cost ither. Urgent care and wheelchair rental is 400.00 up to this point.Mr. & Mrs. Sorbara are looking for a reputable company to come out and fix all the mistakes that were made on their pool.

The entire process was great, from the initial meeting to the final inspection. They exceeded my high expectations. We met with Lee the 1st time and he knew all St Pete regs and was able to do a scale proposal of which pool we could have and where it could go in our yard. Our yard is small and we have overhead wires to contend with. He came back later in the week to sign contracts and make final decisions. The process went according to schedule - everything was done when Lee said it would happen or before. All the workers were courteous and respectful of my property. They completed the pool in less time than was promised. We love it!! It is perfect. We got additional patio pavers and it looks perfect. I recommend this company!!

It was a great experience all around.  Lee did everything he said he would. I couldn't be happier with the entire process.

Pretty hard to describe how happy we are with Lee and Hawaiian Island Pools.  This process has been simply amazing.  First things first, quotes.  We got 5 quotes, 4 from concrete builders, and 1 fiberglass.  Lee was the most personable, informative, and the only one who we didn't feel was trying to hose us on the deal.  He did not put any pressure on us at all.  After getting the quote, we sent about 30 messages back and forth via Angies List email system.  He didn't mind for a second that I asked 100 questions a day.  He answered each and every one. I knew everyday I was going to get a reply.  Not the case with other builders.  This is what helped us choose him ultimately. 
The build has been smooth.  So smooth infact that I simply can't believe it.  Lee was on site many times to check on progress, remained available to answer our questions, and kept us updated on timeline changes. 
The project is about 95% done, but I still feel comforable writing this review, as I know, Lee will not walk away before knowing we are 100% satisfied.  The pool looks 100 times better than we could have ever hoped for.  True professional, focued on a high
quality product and output.  HIGHLY reccomend Lee and HIP, they are fantastic and if we go to another house in the future that needs a pool, we already know who we would go with.

Lee was very helpful from the very beginning with the whole process of installing a new pool without putting pressure on us or trying to hard sell us on anything. Once we compared our other options in the area, it became very clear that the combination of value and customer service was the best with Lee and Hawaiian Island Pools.

Once the construction process began, Lee, Brian, and Joe with punctual, professional, and friendly. They walked us through every step of the process and answered every question and concern we had. Lee said the complete project would take 14 business days, and without fail, they were done in two weeks without any rush and had an opportunity to double check the great work they had already done for any errors or leaks.

Overall, it was a great experience and the customer service was second to none. Even better, the product that was promised was delivered in a timely fashion and well beyond our expectations. I would recommend Hawaiian Island Pools to anyone who was looking to purchase a pool.

We contracted with Lee Slade in June for a pool, patio with pavers, and screen enclosure.  Work was scheduled to begin August 12. It began with no delays. The entire crew did an outstanding job installing the pool ? the first day the site was dug and the pool was in place.  Brian on Lee?s crew was meticulous with measuring, leveling, backfilling and all the other details we didn?t know existed.  They did an excellent job with all theplumbing, electrical and equipment installation making absolutely sure all
codes and safety requirements were met. Hawaiian also did the subcontracting for the patio, pavers and screen
enclosure.
Re: Patio/pavers ? The patio was leveled nicely and rain flows away from the house as it should. The pavers were installed and aside from a couple of minor fixes, look very nice.  We had a challenge with gutter drainage under the patio.  A drainage pipe that the gutter was run into was installed before the patio was poured however it was not put close enough to the existing slab to allow the gutter to run straight into the drain. This was worked out but we feel could have been better with a bit more
planning.  The pavers look beautiful - The one issue we had with them was that they overhung the concrete slab at the doorways (in some places about 2?) where traffic will naturally result in cracked edges.  We repaired this by digging away some of the dirt and adding concrete under those traffic areas.
Re: Screen Enclosure ? We feel this part of the job was the biggest challenge.  Coastal Aluminum was the installer.  Some of the struggles they encountered were: (1) Water management system not planned well led to an inferior system with additional costs. (gutter size, slope and routing; down spout size and position; roofing; roof sealing; etc) (2) ?Lazy? workmanship throughout which required several rounds of additional work. (3) Lack of follow-up and over dependence on customer inspections.  (4) Lack of communication between general contractor and sub.  Aside from the additional hassle of keeping an eye on their work, all-in-all the final product is sturdy, and has a nice appearance.  
One other challenge is follow-up and training.  Several times we asked about how the system worked (pump, heater, salt system and chemical balance) and were immediately given instructions but it wasn?t ?sequential instructions? making it confusing. We feel we got bits and pieces of information but not enough to confidently maintain the pool without relying on a pool supply company for assistance. 
All and all, Lee Slade and his staff at Hawaiian Island Pools did an excellent job on the construction of the pool and we would not hesitate to recommend them or hire them again should the need arise.

Owner, Lee Slade, sold us the product, explained the  process thoroughly, and assisted with the entire installation. All sub-contractors were very prompt, courteous, and paid great attention to detail. Lee always responded to our phone calls very promptly and he personally addressed any issues as they arose. The pool installation was really a work of art and we are very pleased with the result.

They did great!  It was a very pleasant experience, and one we should have begun YEARS ago.  The pool is wonderful.  The only risk is, it may make me a hermit, as I can think of few things I am willing to leave the pool to do, now.

My only recommendation is, better communication about arriving crews.  A call the night before would have been nice.

This was on e of the best experiences I have ever had with any company. Anytime I had questions during the process Lee was there

It was excellent, very good.  He was here when he said.  He has stopped by several times since to make sure we are still moving forward and we have paid them a deposit.  I have told my neighbors about them.

My experience was great.  They were fantastic.  The owner of the company is hands on so he makes it very easy to work with them.  He take personal responsibility for all of his guys, he is there a lot of the time, and his sales process is so laid back that you just WANT to buy from him.  Lee, I've said it a thousand times, and I'll say it again, I really just appreciate your honesty in the whole process.  It was just perfect start to finish.

Just as an update, I had a question 10 months after the pool was installed and Lee still answered my email like he was trying to get my business.  He helped me figure out where to go with my semi-related problem.  This guy is solid.

The service turned out fine. They came when they said they would and the work took a couple of days. The work turned out excellent. The price was competitive as we received other bids.

It was a great experience. The guy is really passionate about his company and he went head over heals to make sure we were satisfied and happy with the pool installation.

Lee and his company did a great job for us. We love our new pool. We are very happy with the design and construction. We are first time pool owners, and Lee and his employees were helpful in explaining pool maintenance and chemical procedures.
