Pavers and Hardscaping Service, General Remodeling + 1 more
They started the work and would come for two to three hours at a time, then leave and not come back for a week. This went on for the entire time they were doing work for me. We personally purchased the tile for the floor and as they were near finishing the installation, they explained they mis-quoted the price and instead of $3,000 it would be $4,000. That I understood and agreed to the price change.
He has not finished the pavers or any of the landscaping. He didn't finish the front door, which was supposed to have a screen door, but doesn't. I found out he did not have the proper permits for the work he was doing and there was stop-work order placed on my home in December of 2010. After a hearing with the county, he did come back in the Spring of 2011 to finish the permit work. There were some additional issues that he did resolve after that as well. When he came back I was excited because I thought he was going to finish all of the work. I even tried to cutting some of the expenses so he could finish the work quickly. I cut the sliding glass doors and parts of the landscaping. All I really wanted were the pavers and the sod. He was trying to install the pavers on top of the existing driveway and didn't bother to remove the driveway. He would use my husband's ladder and our own garbage cans, leaving them full.
As he was working on the ceiling in the living and dining rooms, he moved all of the furniture to the garage. He finished the ceiling and left the furniture in the there. Finally, after several weeks, we decided he wasn't going to move it back and started to move it ourselves. In the process, I dropped a table and cut myself very badly, requiring surgery and missing work.
There was a lien placed on our home in May 2011 by a plumbing sub-contractor that he hired. The plumber did the work in April, but was never paid by Bagwell even though we provided him the funds to do so.
I feel that, because so much of the work was incomplete, I should be reimbursed $12,000 of the total amount that I have paid to him.
Update: I filed a complaint with the State of Florida and was notified they will take further action as warranted upon completion of subjects criminal trial.
