He discovered a relay and another part that needed replacing and fixed the unit for a minimal cost. He said the thermostat was dented but seemed to be working fine so we could just keep using it.
It was so good to have an A/C contractor that actually just fixed the unit for minimal cost despite its age. We will use him again for any A/C work.
