Ocean State Air Conditioning & Heating

Horrible experience! The AC pan was overflowing, I just needed the drains cleared. They charged $460 to clear the lines, then went to town on a "deep" clean on the coils and "inspection" which I didn't ask for ie = $460. The pan was overflowing, that's all. That should be a $200, 30 minute job. But then, literally 6 days later, the AC pan was overflowing again. They came out and said oh....now you need new coils, ie $2500! The exact same thing they just cleaned a few days ago for $460! What? So they either misdiagnosed it, or damaged it the first time. Either way, they charged $460, and I got nothing in return, still have the same problem and now they want another $2500 "to fix what they cleaned earlier" ??? That's not fair! They clearly don't know what they're doing and shooting in the dark and charging as they go.

Robert has serviced our systems for 15+ years. We’ve used Ocean State for new construction, repairs/replacement and ongoing regular maintenance. Extremely disappointed. I asked for a leak check and they charged me $282 for 1.25 hours work. Then they gave me a quote to replace the coil which was far above others that I later checked. Needless to say, I will not use them again.

We just had an air conditioner put in literally a week ago, an entire unit. They put he unit in just fine. I guess I'm going to give them a "B". I only say that because we kept getting system faults for a week. It took them a week to fix it. It wasn't that it took them a week to fix it. They finally called the carrier to get some additional information I think they could've done that a little earlier in the process. I don't know how to compare the price. It seems high to me but I don't know that's actually the case. I use Ocean State because we've always used Ocean State and we've been here for 40 years. They've always done a good job for us as far as servicing it and warranty work. We do have a ten year warranty. They've been very responsive. They do a good job. I can't say that we've ever had a serious issue with them ever.

Tech arrived earlier than originally agreed upon (was notified he was arriving earlier).  He was informative, quick and thorough.

They did all my work. I’m on a contract with them. They have good price.

They were really good.  When we had an emergency, they came right away.  The work they did was great.  They were able to come right away.  There was no extra fee for an emergency called.  They got here the same day I called.  The guy had a little trouble but he managed to figure it out.  He called a couple of people in their office and got it done in about an hour.  So I was really happy.  He came here at 6:00 pm and was here for about an hour.  

I expected the price to be a lot more expensive.  I never had any problems since then.    

John is a really nice fellow and the second visit to my house in a year. He knows the equipment very well and knows how to diagnose other potential problems. I'm extremely happy with the service from Ocean State. Same day, they scheduled the estimate for a duct cleaning and quote on an air purifier. Matthew showed up promptly and was very easy to work with. I was having other work done on the house and he was very courteous to the other service provider too. They helped each other out a bit. Rare to see. I will continue to be a customer.

During the coldest period we had this year, our AC and heat went out. We contacted them and within 48 hours they gave us an estimate and had it installed. The unit seems to be running pretty well.

I got home about 7:15 pm and the A/ C was not working. The thermostat was blank and not working. Called Ocean State about 7:30 PM and the technician answered. He was on a job on the West side of town. After explainingthe problem he tried to walk me through a couple of fixes but to no avail. He would come over as soon as he finished the job he was on. Arrived about 10:00 pm. It was a bad Float Switch. He had the part in his truck and had it fixed in about an hour. Total was $282.89. I am writing this 2 days later and it is working fine. The Service call was $140.00 and the part and tax was $142.89 for a total of $282.89. Not sure what the cost of a regular service call would have been.
The unit is about 11 years old. We use this provider to do the semiannual maintenance on the unit.
