Mr. Singleterry came to my house for a free estimate & discussed all aspects of the job, including him clearing out some shrubs that would be near the fence line. If there were any problems after construction, he said he would come out to take care of it. He required a deposit for the cost of materials. I stopped home after he started the job & noticed they had moved a railroad tie that was lying on the ground behind my shed. It had been set on top of two stacks of bricks & had a few bricks sitting on top of it. I told him that it needed to be put back on the ground before he left as I didn't want it up against the back of my shed. He mentioned how heavy it was & said he would move it wherever I wanted it.
After two days he completed the fence. The afternoon he was completing the job I had to leave for a appointment. The fence looked like an acceptable job. I did write him a check in which I included an extra $25 & told him to use it for his new expected baby. After backing out of my driveway, I stopped & went back in the yard to talk to Marcus to remind him to be sure he & his worker moved the railroad tie from the back of my shed. He indicated that it would be done. He also told me he'd leave me the screws that I had apparently purchased at additional cost & also a few extra fence boards. Neither items were left for me, nor have I ever received them, & the railroad tie had not been moved as agreed. He told me that I had a one year warranty, but he forgot to write that on my paid bill also.
After seven phone calls, which he never responded to, & a certified letter which was signed for on 6/23/15, he responded back with a certified letter stating he knew he had never moved the railroad tie & to list my problems & send them to him. He also said he was an honest business man. Instead of writing again, I called him & this time he actually answered. Without going into detail with him, I asked him to make an appointment with me to come to my house to discuss some concerns I had about the fence installation, giving him the benefit of the doubt. He was agreeable to that & said he'd try to come that weekend, - which he didn't & didn't bother to call. I had been given every excuse in the book by now. The next week I got a call from "McKenzie", who said she worked for him when I questioned her, & set up an appointment for him to come to my house on 7/14/15 at 2pm. Needless to say he never came or called. I called McKenzie & Marcus & left a message to call me - which also never happened. After several more calls later I still got no response. Almost every call went into his voice mail. I also note that presently there is no phone number listed for him on Angie's List.
Prior to sending my certified letter, & still believing him to do the right thing, one weekend I went out outside to move some bricks so he could have a clear path to slide the railroad tie onto a cement pad by the shed. After moving the bricks from on top the railroad tie, I discovered a 3-4" hole that had been punched into the Hardiboard panel that had been "conveniently "covered by the bricks piled on top, as the railroad tie didn't completely cover the hole. The shed was not damaged before the fence installation began. Again I was willing to work it out with him on getting it repaired. I do have pictures & both letters.
Due to his lack of response to my several requests it seems to show his irresponsibility, lack of professionalism, integrity, courtesy, & honesty. I realize it would be my word against his, but I feel actions speak louder than words. As I have given him more then sufficient time, ten months, to contact me & do the right thing, I decided it was finally time to do a review with Angie's List. Thank you for taking the time to read this review.
