"14 years ago our company Storm Protection built the first largest lanai roll down shutter ever to be manufactured and installed. We recently serviced the shutter. The call came in and our service team responded within 24 hours. Today this shutter is still running on its original motor and equipment . Although routine maintenance is required. This has been the first service call in 14 years. A prime example of our quality products and service. This customer review we are responding to contains non factual information saying we don’t warranty our products and the shutters never worked correctly. We repaired a window shutter after the installation in 2018 under our warranty. Upon completion all ten shutters were working great. We were hired to provide a maintenance /lubrication service April 2020. All shutters working great. The customer did default on their contract in 2018. A intent to lien was sent. The customer called our office Friday afternoon 11/12/2021. We were closed . The next business day a return phone call and voicemail message was left Monday morning 11/15/2021. The customer has not contacted us to schedule a repair. We found out about this review Friday 11/19/21. The review was filed by the customer 11/13/21 a day after he called when we were closed. This is why the customer won’t call us back because his review contains lies and slander. Angie’s list has a message showing when posting a review the information shall be true and accurate. After reviewing the file I found a email from the customer wife in 2018 praising the quality job performed by our crew. Hey [Member Name Removed],when your ready, give us a call, send a email or contact us via website. Be glad to help you."
Service crew arrived on time as scheduled. Nathan and Devin were prompt and efficient and were very capable, knowledgeable and diligent. They essentially worked without a break for five hours and completed the work in exemplary fashion. Nathan took the time to explain and discuss the repairs and commented on the reasons for the failures. Some of the repairs required correcting faulty electrical installations and they were fully capable of making the necessary repairs. I had difficulty locating a company in the area that was willing to do the repair work, most wanting to completely replace the hurricane shutters rather than provide the requested service. Storm Protection cited a very busy schedule, but worked our repair into their schedule within days. I have yet to even receive a response from some of the other companies that I sent emails and/or left messages regarding the request for service and quotation. The work crew cleaned up and vacuumed the debris left from the repairs. I would highly recommend Storm Protection to anyone interested in servicing and repairing hurricane shutters.
Covered by ten year warranty.
Good follow-up from company . They will make recommendations on total fix of shutter.
Changed from " b " rating "A" Seems like I found a Great company.Real Pro,s
Al Carter was my primary contact and project manager for Storm Protection and he was a valuable asset from the beginning. I initially invited him to quote only on the power operated roll-up storm doors that needed to be replaced on our 16 year old home. Of the four contractors I contacted he was the most qualified, trustworthy and competitive and he was awarded the contract. This is his company's true strength and they did a fantastic job. Tyler was his installation leader and he was probably the finest contractor representative that we encountered on the entire remodeling project. I can't say enough about his work ethic and caring attitude. He also did a great job on the storm panels mounted on a few windows and doors that were not replaced.
Once the storm door decision was made I began shopping around for a window contractor. I met 3 other contractors and got some very scary (exhorbitantly high) pricing while still not being satisfied with the products offered or the installation itself. Fortunately, Al Carter told me that he offered the impact windows we were seeking. Once I got his pricing and learned about the installation process involved I felt confident that Storm Protection was our best alternative. It turned out that there were some significant issues (exterior stucco, irregular window measurements, etc.) that had to be tackled to get our windows installed. Some went in without much of a fight but several were very tricky. During the installation Al learned that his primary window installation leader was making some mistakes and the installation was slow and arduous. (I found out later that this installation guy left the company.)
After all was said and done we are happy with the window work they did although there were a couple issues that became apparent. One had to do with the stucco repairs that had to be made after they ripped out the old windows and installed the new. That was an expense that was not part of our budget and we had to find a different contractor to do that work. (Steven from Storm Protection put me in touch with the one that did the work.) The other concern was that there are some exposed mounting screws on the inside of the windows that we had no idea would be part of the final installation. I asked if they could be covered or capped and they could not be. Otherwise, we are delighted with our windows and would use them again.
The exterior doors were more of a challenge for Storm Protection. We're not as happy about this portion of the project as with the others (thus the B grade overall). I also got the impression they weren't happy either. It was a real fight to install a few doors and the frustration was very obvious from them. There was one door in the back of our garage that was especially difficult. We aren't happy with the way it is not flush with the exterior wall and there are air gaps visible from the inside. They struggled mightily on that door and in the end they convinced me that it was the best they could do. I considered pushing them more but decided that since the stucco repairs had been made we didn't want to undo the installation and incur more expense. There were installation struggles on nearly all of the doors they did. I have to presume that this was not their area of expertise and could not recommend them to others for exterior door work until they get someone on board that has the experience and skills necessary.
Overall, if it weren't for the frustration on the exterior doors Storm Protection should get a "contractor of the year" award. Those doors caused quite a bit of stress for Al and he wasn't himself after that happened. (It should also be noted that he was beginning to get lots of other new business at the time and he had to be focused on that.) But for the most part they did a great job. I expressed concern over some clean up issues and they immediately improved for the duration of the project. I especially enjoyed and appreciated most of the workers on our job. Tyler and Steven were the two standouts. Al is a great guy and he is certainly someone that you can trust. I only wish that he had already worked through his installer personnel issues beforehand and had managed the stress a bit better at the tail end of our project.
