The contractor provided actual cost estimates based on carefully drawn design plans, and materials expected to be used. Other contractors we interviewed gave us ballpark estimates based on scope of work without detailing work to be done or materials to be used. We heard the statement "I couldn't touch this master bath remodel for under $40,000," a couple of times based on nothing other than conjecture. The electrical contractor assigned to our remodel by Smartbuykitchens was especially accommodating. He frequently went beyond bare minimum attempts to try make us happy by fulfilling special requests that weren't specifically outlined in our contract.
