I interviewed four contractors for my condo remodel.  After gathering all of the information, I decided to give my business to Arnold Sindledecker of Sindledecker Builders.  It turned out to be the right decision.  They were very price competitive, but more than that, they did an outstanding job and did it all on time!  It was a very pleasant experience from the beginning.  I found it easy to work with Mr. Sindledecker because he understood quite well my concerns with issues like quality and cost overruns.  He also understood entirely my remodeling and design tastes.  I vacated the condo when work began and with the exception of one time when I returned to see the progress, I turned the condo over to Sindledecker Builders without any worries on my part.  Seven weeks later, I returned to see the finished product with a walk through with Mr. Sindledecker.  The work was very professional and I am so pleased with how my condo looks.  I will without a doubt use Sindledecker Builders for any future remodeling needs.

Our project on our condo in Naples, Florida was done while we were in Missouri - 1,500 miles away.  Arnold and Shane Sindledecker, as well as the foreman Kenny, did an outstanding job.  We were always in touch and kept abreast of changes and decisions that needed to be made with ample time for us to review.   Although we had floorplans done, Arnold offered many great suggestions on other possibilities that we would never have thought of.   Nothing seemed to be impossible - Arnold found a way to make it happen!

The finish work is that of a true craftsman.  Arnold is very particular about his subcontractors' workmanship and they spoke very highly about Arnold and most had worked with Arnold for a long time.  Our condo is absolutely beautiful and I wouldn't change one thing that Sindledecker Builders did.

I live in New York so this job was done remotely.  He was very punctual and started when he said he would. The job was completed when he said it would be.  The workers were very friendly and went out of their way to clean the apartment and make the beds when the job was done.  They also helped my parents learn how to use the new appliances.  He wasn't the cheapest but his price came in at what he said it would be. His work is held to a very high standard.  I would highly recommend him.

I joined Angie's List because while he was doing work for me I felt that I was being cheated and I was. He was recommended by another builder who had done work here. The builder found out he was a liar as well and no longer works with him. We met with him, went over the plan we wanted and got a first estimate of $98,000. It was more than we thought it would be but it was detailed with things like changing out the power electric box, etc. It was very specific. Then we were supposed to have a second meeting, as stated in his brochure there are four phases. Phase two would be for me to pick out things and three would be putting the cost of his estimate with my choices and agree on a contract. Phase four would be the final contract. I saw no phase two or three, I kept calling him and finally got ahold of him and he said we would go shopping. I was looking at things to chose to get price estimates. We only allow building in May-November where I live and he came to me 2-3 days before he was supposed to start with the contract. The contract was no longer a cost plus, he basically said what would go where. The cheaper he does it the more money he made. The contract came in 20% higher. I was so busy looking at his changes and he had regrouped things so it was hard to follow. I didn't realize that he had left out several things from the original contract and then he raised the price 25%. He never has finished it up and it has been two years. I am a senior citizen and there was definite abuse. He would come to me and lie and ask for more money. He yelled at me and when I emailed him he would email me back and tell me not to tell him how to do his job. He didn't pass inspection but never told me why but then tried to ask me for the money. They never gave me a contract to sign or a floor plan to look at.
Response from Ryan Sindledecker Construction
"Initial meetings developed a budget and design with the client, The client reviewed the plans/design and the budget. Owner was anxious to get started, so a permit application with plans were completed and submitted into the permitting process with the City of Naples. Contractor took the owner around to make selections. The cost of these selections were compared to the allowances in the budget. Each selection resulted into a cost issue to the owner. The project cost went up and down as a result of the owners selections. The owner was present and made these selections. All costs were presented and accepted or rejected by the owner. The project was completed and received a Certificate of Completion from the City of Naples Building Dept. A punch list was written up and each item was checked off as satisfied by the client. The contractor received final payment."
