 + -1 moreJudith de Maleissye-Melun was the realtor I dealt with. She had brought a client to me interested in purchasing my home. From the beginning it seemed a little strange that an overseas buyer would buy a $800,000.00 house sight unseen she assured me she has had plenty of deals like this. After signing the contract she was to setup the inspection on my property, no inspection was ever ordered and the proper deposit wasn't received. I began to do some research and it took all of about 20 seconds to find that this was an obvious real estate scam that had been around for several years and even using the same clients name. When I called and emailed this info Downing Frye told me they were well aware of the scam and that my deal was still a good one. At this point the communication ended from them and they refused to terminate the contract even when the terms weren't met. Two months went by as there greed to still possibly make a commission took over common sense and pages of evidence!

 + -1 moreWe bought a condo listed by Downing-Frye. Karen Coney Coplin was the listing agent., along with her partner Mike. In our opinion, Ms. Coney Coplin's communication style and tone was counterproductive, at least that was the effect it had on us. Between my wife and I, we have bought 8 homes before this experience. This purchase was, unquestionably, the most disappointing home buying experience either of us have ever had. We regret giving a low evaluation to the all of Downing-Frye, as they likely have many wonderful agents. But, all we can rate is the experience we had - and that experience disappointed us.
Description of Work: Listing broker (Downing-Frye) and Agent (Karen Coney Coplin) for a condominium purchased.

 + -1 moreTyler Manring, our agent, was knowledgeable of the Naples area, able to take our extensive list of requirements and turn it into a list of houses. We asked him to setup 15-20 appointments for one day, which he did and spent the entire day with us. Gave us advice on placing an offer, wasn't after a quick sale. After our offer was accepted Tyler took care of all the closing details and represented us at the closing. Signed sealed delivered 30 days after the offer was accepted. he made a complex process quick and painless. I would definitely recommend Tyler and Downing Frye for anyone looking to buy a home in the Naples area.

Description of Work: I had the most wonderful experience working with Barry Weissman, a buyer representative from Downing-Frye. Our search to find my family a vacation condo began in December, 2011. My closest childhood friend and I planned a three day excursion to Naples with Barry's help. I had never been to the west coast of Florida before. Barry spent an entire day showing us the city and all it has to offer. What really struck me was how special we were treated. He knew my budget up front, but we were treated as if we had millions to spend. The time he took to introduce us to Naples was amazing. And even though we had a rental car, he drove us to a market before we retired for the evening because he thought we might be too tired to get back out on our own. (He was right!) We spent another day looking at properties. He was well prepared in what he showed us. It was obvious that he had listened very carefully to my needs, preferences, and desires in a vacation home. He also made sure we were well fed and hydrated! His wife had even packed us a nutritious, delicious snack. I was really blown away by all of this. He was ready to spend another day showing us properties but we opted to go to one of the beautiful beaches he had shown us earlier. I knew it would be a few months before we had the finances. Barry kept me very up-to-date with properties via Listingbook. I live in the Midwest, so when we found the perfect place, Barry took care of everything for me. He has also been instrumental in giving me resources for finding insurance, contractors, home watch people and such. I might also mention that the place I bought came in well under budget. I think many agents might have steered me toward the more expensive ones. That just tells you a little more about his character and his desire to find his clients the home that will suit them the best.
