They were very professional, and completed the task within the time frame they said they would. We were all very pleased.

"[Member Name Removed], we do apologize for this inconvenience, I am trying to see which estimator was the one that took your call. Once I know who did, I will get this resolved for you. Best Regards, - Carter Fence"
We placed our order on 4/24/ 2015 with an estimated installation delivery date of approximately one month.
As that date approached I called to check on an approximate install day since I wanted to be on-site as President of our condominium association. I was told delivery will be in about two weeks.
On or about 5/18/2015 I called again to check on a date for installation. I was told the railings were being powder coated and delivery would be soon. The representative told me she couldn't give me an exact date because all the supervisors were out of the office but that she would be in the office on Saturday and would call me with the date. I never received a call!
On June 24, two months after the original order was placed I sent them an e-mail stating that it was now near to two months from the original order date and we needed to cancel the order due to continued excuses & unfullled promises, hoping that they would call and say that the job is nearly ready. Instead they replied with a mail stating that they would refund our deposit!
What kind of a company doesn't try to salvage a job that they 've been working on for two months?
Additionally, I had commitment to go to New Hampshire in July and needed to get projects lined up.
Their response is as follows-
Dear Richard & Therese, (Therese is ourProperty Management Company manager)
I would like to express with my sincerest apology for any inconvenience and
frustration we have caused. Even though all the necessary requirements were met
on your behalf, there were a few unforeseen factors which caused delays in
completing your project, on ours.
This reply tells me that if they weren't even close to completion of our railings, they could have salvaged the job by calling and explaining the issues. They could have told me that they has some problems and would be late instead of making excuses. I would have understood and made plans for the other projects which are to follow based on the railing installation.
I suspect a change of ownership, management or financial issues. Carter is a long time Naples company and things like this shouldn't occur. The job was small for them, only 80' of aluminum fence.
The issue has come up with the current job I need done. They did such a great job that when we decided to move, I called them to schedule a quote for the same thing at our new home. It's a bigger job, almost twice the length of fencing.
I received a call from their salesman/quoter 3 days after my initial call. He was busy at the moment and unable to come when I asked. He said he would call back the next morning at the latest to spend the time to schedule when he could come out. He never called.
4 days later, I called the company again. The nice woman on the phone said she'd reach out to all her salespeople to find out who'd been in contact with me and get them to call me.
It's now been another 4 days and I've not had a single phone call from anyone.
They do an excellent job when they actually bother to try and get your contract. However, apparently they're too busy for more work. It would have been nice to at least be told that they're too busy and that I should look for another company to help me.
Carter Fence Inc. was on time for appointment and I received the written estimate later that day. Although the second company's estimate (after a bit of back and forth to actually obtain it) was approximately the same cost, we felt confident that Carter Fence Inc was the better choice.
Once we accepted the estimate, we paid the 50% deposit and scheduled the appointment within the week. Carter Fence Co arrived, removed the fence and disposed of it. The estimate said they may have to remove some trees, however the workers were able to work around the trees so that there was minimal disturbance to the landscaping. They did a fantastic job.
I liked the fact that they had a large crew and did quick work. I did NOT like that they didn't match the fence height with the height of the gate. And worst of all- they didnt pick up after themselves. We have torn branches, pulled up rock, etc. left lying around our yard. In my opinion, if you do a job it should look perfect when you are done. I would NOT hire this company again. We have called multiple times to get the yard put back together. We were told it will be done, NOTHING has been done.
Also, the workers were removing part of the old fence and took a break. The fence was dividing our property with our neighbors. Their dog got loose because of this and we had to search to locate the dog. Thankfully, the dog was OK.
"Dear Customer, After doing some research with the information given, I noticed that in our database we have two estimates that come up under the last name and that address. I have printed out these estimates and have told our estimator that is responsible for the Ft Myers area to contact the person listed on the estimate immediately. Please accept our sincerest apologies on this matter, we value customer satisfaction above anything else. If you would like to contact Ken Carter himself about this matter, please feel free to do so and contact us at 239-353-4102, we will glad to address any complaints or concerns that you might have. Thank you and Best Regards, Carter Fence Company."
