I recently ordered a monitor from an Ebay seller who shipped it from Maine. The monitor arrived in a damaged box and did not display any image when turned on. I called up ABC Electronics to find out how much it would cost to fix the problem so I could notify the seller and get UPS to reimburse the cost (it was sent insured).
I dropped off the monitor on 3/17/2014 to the technician. There was no office, only a work shop which contained many TV's and computer monitors in various states of repair. The technician misspelled my address, even after I repeated it three times. He also incorrectly recorded the model number as PVM14 (its a PVM-20N6U). I was told the cost to diagnose the problem would be $20 total and that he would call with an answer by 2 PM the following day.
On 3/18 1:26 PM, I called ABC Electronics and inquired about the status of the monitor. The tech said he didn't know what the problem was and that he had ordered a $20 part from Miami to diagnose the problem. I was surprised to find out he ordered a part without consulting me first.
On 3/19 8:50 AM, I called to check on the monitor and the part had not arrived. I instructed ABC that UPS would be picking up the monitor at 11 AM that morning and that I needed to retrieve it. They said they would call back when it was ready. At 10:57 AM I had still not received any call, so I called again and was told they had not gotten to it and needed 30 minutes to put the case back on. They also asked me to pay for the $20 part when I picked up the monitor. I mentioned I didn't ask them to order the part, but grudgingly agreed to pay the $20. UPS arrived at 11:15 AM and I had to tell them to come back the following day. Then I drove to ABC, paid the $20, and picked up the monitor.

Called and asked for a service in my home, but they advised I bring the TV in to them---much cheaper. It was the correct call. I brought the TV and left it. They called and told me what need repair and gave me an estimate. I authorized the repair and they completed it on time.

Charged 85.00 cash/no receipt for a service charge and 420.00 for a new TV but, the new TV was marked with a sticker "Refurbished" on the back and the original serial # was blacked out; a sticker with a new serial # was placed over it. This model TV only cost 219.00 new at Wal-Mart.He also took a TV that he had come in to fix. He called and said he could not fix the TV he never give a verbal or written estimate on the cost. A check was written for the service to him and was cashed under the name cash that he wrote in. We called him twice for the receipts; he sent one receipt stating "1 32" TV" with a price of $351 plus labor and tax totaled 419.76. The TV started not working properly within five days of installation so we called to have schedule a time for him to pick up the tv and refund the $420. We just want our money back for the TV that was not the new TV it was supposed to be. After several calls to him to try and resolve this issue, he finally said that he took my mother for her money. He said that is just the business he is in. He then refused to talk to us anymore, saying he only wants to deal with my mother. He likes dealing with the elderly.

Overall it went well. This was my third experience with this company. I found two discarded flat screen TV's. A Sylvania that worked when plugged in but would turn off then cycle back on every 30 minutes. The other - a Sony - wouldn't come on at all. Turns out the Sony was not worth fixing, but ABC did say they would look at the Sylvania and address its issue of turning off and on by itself. They felt it was some loose connections that needed soldering. As is sometimes the case, the TV would not act up at the shop. I brought it home and it began to cycle on and off again. When I called, they offered to come to my home to observe it malfunction for no additional fee. I decided to return it to their shop instead. They went back in to solder more of the circuit board connections associated with the ON/OFF function. They then kept the TV in a location on their bench where they could observe it for a full day before returning it. They adjusted the picture levels which greatly improved the picture, and I've used it without a problem ever since. I paid only the originally quoted price for repairs. They are not a fancy shop by any stretch of the imagination. They have a very cluttered warehouse space with just enough room to move around the piles of electronics. They seem to be a one or two man shop, so you have to call them back to check on your TV. And because of the size of their business, they may miss a promised deadline. One extra day is the most I've been delayed by them. I've had decent results with them so far and have used them on three occasions.

It was a very good experience and they did everything I asked them to do. I thought that their prices were very fair and they were very fast at the job too.
