"In response to this review. the customer actually brought in 2 repairs to us. A Shindaiwa trimmer and an Echo blower. Both units had very bad carburetors from stale/varnished gas. The Echo blower was so bad that the fuel lines and grommet were literally turning into jelly. Bad gas, is not a defective part and therefore not covered under the manufacturers warranty. The "loose" wire he mentioned was repaired and was not the reason the unit would not stay running. We offered to show the customer a copy of the warranty statement so that he could read it for himself. We suggested that if he did not believe us and wanted to contact Shindaiwa to discuss it further we would be okay with that as well, we have nothing to hide. The customer demanded that we give him an original copy of the receipt, obviously, we cannot give any customer a printed receipt when they have not paid for the repair yet. Just to be crystal clear the customer was presented the bills to look over at the counter. Once the customer refused to pay, he decided to contact the police. We explained all of this to the police when they arrived and the police explained it again to the customer, he got in his vehicle and left. This review is the next thing we have heard from the customer. Hopefully, future customers who have taken the time to read this review and our response will make more sense out of this transaction. We look forward to helping them out just like we have done for 1000's of other customers over the 6 decades that we have been located here."
"In response to this review. Greeting our customers "rudely" & "demanding" money is just not what we do, as a professional repair shop, helping our customers for nearly 60 years in our community. Yes, we collect a $40 deposit, it is posted on a large board behind the counter, it is not a secret, and every respectable shop in town does it. This particular repair had bad gas & water in the tank. We flushed out the carburetor and saved the customer money by cleaning it out, not just replacing the carburetor. In this case that is not a defective part, therefore, we could not write a warranty to Troybilt. We do get our fair share of reviews such as this, it is the 1% of our customers, but we still take the time to respond so our future customers know our side of the story. Even with a dissatisfied customer like this we would have tried to advise them how to care for the equipment and instruct them on better fuel storage habits so this does not happen again in the future. We literally write our "rules for fuel" on their receipts!!! It cant get much better than that. We know that is the best service that we can provide and will continue to do so for our valued customers."
