On 1/30/17 we met with their Installation Representative (James Bond) for the work assessment. He gave us a price of $29, 259 and added the full amount had to be paid that day. He also said that the job would take 4-5 days, which turned into four months! In addition he said our new bamboo kitchen floor would be completely covered to prevent damage. When the installer arrived he used flattened cardboard boxes to partially cover our new floor. When it was obvious that he was not going to cover the entire floor, I provided RAMBOARD floor covering which he used from then on. On April 15th (approx.) Majors office called to say the materials were in and they desired to set an installation date. The date May 1, 2007 was agreed upon and we were told to empty all the cabinets before that date. On April 27th Mike Keho (Majors) called to inform us that they were running behind schedule and wanted to reschedule the starting date to May 8th. He also informed us that two installers, Adam and Branden, would be doing the installation. Note: we had already started emptying our cabinets! On May 8th only Adam showed up and said he was told to do the job alone. Adam told us the job would take at least three weeks, not the 4-5 days the Installation Rep. promised us. He spent two hours doing an inventory of the parts for our job and discovered that a number of pieces were missing and that he had ordered them by phone. This inventory should have been done when the parts arrived three week ago! I called Mike Keho and complained that only one installer had shown up for the job, not two as he had promised a few days earlier. He said they had too much work to put two men on our job. I then called Mike Majors, the company president, and he appeared to have be totally disinterested with my complaint. He didn't sound anything like he appears in his company TV add! May 11, 2017 Majors' installer Brandon showed up to assist Adam for a few days. May 18th, 2017 Adam said he had completed what work he could do until the missing parts arrived. A few weeks later Adam called to say the parts were in and he came and installed them. At that time my wife discovered that one of the doors had a 5 1/2 inch long imperfection. I asked Adam if he could repair the imperfection and he said no, but he would order a new door. From this date until August 25th we received a monthly excuse from Mike Keho about the problems getting a new door. On August 25th I received a phone call stating that the new door arrived in good condition and that Adam could install it on Aug.31st or Sept. 1st and I chose Friday, September 1st. August 28th I called Mike Keho to confirm that Friday, Sept 1st was the date for installing the final door and he started equivocating about Sept 8th. It was at this point that I called my attorney to contact them, and without any notice Adam showed up at 8 am on Sept. 1st to finish the job!! Outside of Adam, we were never shown any consideration during this whole episode!! I wouldn't recommend Majors for anything!!
Response from Majors Home Improvement
"Thank you for sharing your concerns about your installation. Our product cycle incurs 6-8 weeks for product manufacturing and shipping plus integration into the current schedule, and takes 4-5 days for an average size kitchen (extra time for larger kitchens). Unpacking jobs and doing inventory prior to install time is understandable, but would potentially put the materials at risk of damage when removed from the original packaging. We did discover missing parts, so all materials available were installed and we returned to finish the job as promised. There was one door received that had a natural imperfection, common to wood products. To meet your needs, we reordered a new door. The manufacturer shipped us the replacement doors and in each of the 3 times, the door had been damaged in shipping. We have communicated all door update throughout process. We regret the door came in damaged, but persevered to get the right door replaced for your project on Sept 1st. We apologize for any manufacturer delays and appreciate your patience and business with our company."

After we contacted them, we set up an appointment for an estimate. Chuck came out and took measurements and showed us color and fabric samples. After spending all the time we needed to make decisions he gave us an estimate and we chose an installation date. On the day, everyone was prompt. Everyone had all the tools and equipment necessary, even a cherry picker to lift the awning to the roof. They took care to protect my house and worked in a professional, cheerful manner the whole time. They made sure everything worked properly and we understood how to use the awning before they left. And they cleaned up too!
You cannot ask for a better deal. We will definitely use them again.

Workers pleasant and professional. Work was started on my sunroom as promised but was not finished within one week as promised. Work was started and then three weeks later after my materials came in workers came out with the other materials only to have one of the workers pulled from my job to be sent to another job leaving me with only one worker to complete my sunroom. By pulling my worker it caused my job to be delayed a few days more which was not professional and fair to me.

After a few years I noticed the window sill had pulled away from the window and there was a small amount of mildew.  I removed the window sill and found some rotted wood. I emailed Mike and he sent a crew out to check it out. It was determined that the original installers had accidentally put a small hole in the window frame which went undetected. Mike took care of the framing and installed a completly new window. I am pleased to work with a company that stands behind their product and workmanship.

This is the fifth time we have used Majors Home Improvement, and we have always been more than satisfied.  The crew shows up on a timely basis, preceded by a telephone call.  The crew introduces themselves, they respect your property, and protect the floors and move  anything out of the way as well.  They are well skilled and efficient in what they do, and once they start, they stay on task.  We were experiencing some rain the morning they arrived, were informed that they may not get all 16 windows in, but once they started and the rain subsided, they stayed until 5-6 pm until they finished.  They left no mess in the home, any mess was cleaned or vacuumed, and they took anything you wanted to discard from the project.  A walk around to each window was done to insure we were pleased.  Arrangements for the building inspector were arranged by the office.  The staff and crew is very user friendly.
We had the experience of having a number of doors replaced by them in the past, and the experience was the same.  Well done.
They also replaced an exterior insulated screened patio cover in our previous home, excellent price, the old one removed and the new one completed the same day.  Very pleased again.

I had to get a wind mitigation inspection for the insurance company to reduce my homeowners insurance. When the guy came out he told me that because I didn't have the hurricane shutters installed for the front and back door because they weren't rated as hurricane resistant I would have them installed. In all honesty this makes perfect since when you think about it. Granted this isn't their fault but it would have been nice if they would have recommended or included it when I was getting the windows done! Once I contacted Cameron, the original sales person, he was very helpful. Afterwe did the paperwork and the initial shock of having to pay an extra $1000 for labor, material, another building inspection another guy contacted me to get the measurements for the doors. I arranged it where the guy could come out and measure without me being there. With no follow up on the companies part to ensure they were good to go with ordering the materials I received a phone call 3 weeks later informing me that the materials were in and wanted to schedule the installation of the shutters. One would think this would be great except he insisted that it be the next day. This would have fine if I didn't have a job that required more notice of more than a day he offered me! I told him that I was unable to do that and needed to reschedule for the following week. He said he would call me and make arrangements. A week or so later the guy has the audacity the call me again to schedule installation for the next day this time it was almost 4 pm and expect me to make arrangements to take off work. When i told him that i cant do short notices like that but he then got extremely rude about it. I would have told him off but i did need to hurry and get the shutters installed since i wouldn't be able do it at a later time. Luckily I have a little flexibility at work to do so but I honestly can't believe how a business can expect their paying customers to drop everything they have going on in life with no notice. After this experience combined with the other time dealing with them I will not be using them again nor do I recommend them to anyone else due to their lack of customer service and communication skills.

They did a fine job. They backed it up when we had a problem. You couldn't really tell how well it was going to work until it rained. When it did, it showed one area that needed to be adjusted. They were happy to come back promptly, they made the adjustment and everything was fine. They did a nice job. I felt that they were a little overpriced, that was the only complaint I had. They did good work, they cleaned up the site, and we were satisfied with them. The people were hard working.

the overall job was excellent. The reason why I gave them an overall B is because I felt like they didn't communicate or keep me up todate on anything. And when I had to call them and they still didn't have any answers for me is a little Apprehensive on my $20,000 decision. especially since I had already paid them half as a down payment. I'm a person who likes to be kept informed. I don't think it's an unreasonable request.

They were polite, professional.  We agreed on the price.  The roof has leaked from the beginning.  After several attempts
to fix the problem, they just told me it was the fault of my roof.  Had they told me there was a problem with my roof, I would not have spent the money to have the porch built.  The city inspectors came out twice and would not approve the porch.  They told me Majors was responsible for the leak.
Several people have asked me if I would recommend Majors, and I said no.  I would neither use, nor recommend this company
to anyone.
Response from Majors Home Improvement
"We had a licensed roofer go out and look at the problem. He reported to us that her existing house roof was leaking above where we attached the room. He had went in attic and saw water stains on the plywood where water has been getting in prior to addition. We have water tested our roof and its point of attachment and there were no leaks. I would still advise that she have a licensed roofer locate and repair the leak on shingle roof."

This was a terrible and costly experience.   Do not use Mike Major for any home improvement projects.  He should just stick to window replacement but use a ladder in the process.
