RUN, don't walk, away from this builder. When I was looking for my first house, my realtor recommended Henry Company Homes. We liked the floorplans and the prices were reasonable in our area, so we wrote an offer. As soon as the offer was in, all the employees that were nice, friendly, outgoing disappeared. We were unable to get any updates on the construction without going to it ourselves. In addition to this, we picked out a lot in one of their pre-planned subdivisions, but they failed to tell us until after construction stated that the back 3500 feet of the lot was a wet-land conservation area easement that we could never build on, put a fence around, or disturb in any way without risk of a huge EPA fine. When they did finally tell us, they had no information about what the rules were for this type of easement and I had to do all the research myself - seems like a company should know what they're selling PRIOR to selling it. After repeat verbal abuse and a total lack of customer service, we were set to close in just a few days when we got an email from our builder saying it was on hold. After making several unsuccessful phone calls where no one would tell me what was happening, I finally just had to drive out to the property myself to see what was happening. Turns out, the bottom 3 ft of the house (all brick) was power-washed so hard that it knocked the coating off the brick. Justin Davis at Henry Homes personally said to me that this wasn't a problem at all, just cosmetic and offered us $3000 just to close on the house. However, the brick manufacturing company told us that the coating was fired on in the kiln, so if there was enough pressure to wash it off there was no way that they didn't do structural damage to the mortar joints. Justin Davis at Henry Homes refused to re-brick the house so we asked to be released from our contract and refunded our appraisal fee - he agreed, but as soon as I signed the contract release - they refused to refund the appraisal fee. This company really wasted my time and money. Please take my advice and don't let them waste yours.
