General Remodeling
Bad.
1) Promised impact windows ready for installation in 4 weeks. They actually arrived in 11 weeks.
2) Project got held up because contractor was unfamiliar with city regulations.
3) Poor craftmanship.
a) Front steps. One of the 4 steps was not correctly braced so concrete bulged outwards quite substantially. Before installing tiles with another contractor weeks later, we had to hire another person to correct the error.
b) Impact front door. It looked bad since the beginning because to close the door from the inside we need to use both hands, and to lock it we need to pull it in quite hard with one hand to be able to lock in. The side panel on the left of the door started to warp so that now, roughly one year after installation, there is a 1/2 cm gap between the glass and the metal frame.
4) Unresponsiveness.
a) Before having the final touch-ups done, we finish paying the contractor. He said we would stop by the following day to finish job. He never showed up.
b) Ten months after project completion (or lack of, given item a above), we re-contacted the contractor when it became clear to us that front door had serious problem given the appearance of large gap between glass and metal frame. After a few e-mail exchanges, contractor declared (without showing up) that problem was a "maintenance" one and therefore he had no obligation to fix.
