My recent encounter with Palmetto Bay Air Conditioning can only be described as a complete nightmare. From start to finish, this company demonstrated a shocking level of incompetence and negligence that left me utterly frustrated and deeply dissatisfied. I feel compelled to share my review to warn others about the appalling service and exorbitant costs associated with this company. It all began when our AC broke down in the scorching month of June. We called upon Palmetto Bay Air Conditioning, and a technician named Ed diagnosed the problem as a faulty blower motor. We were charged a hefty $500.00 to have it replaced. However, to our dismay, within an hour, the temperature in our house remained a sweltering 85 degrees, indicating that the issue had not been resolved. When we contacted them again, their response was dismissive, claiming that it takes time for the system to cool down. As the temperature continued to rise, reaching a stifling 87 degrees by 6:00 PM, we were left with no choice but to contact them once more. This time, a technician named Richard Thomas arrived the next morning and informed us that the newly installed blower motor had a bad heater relay, which would cost an additional $299.00 to fix. He attempted a temporary fix by disconnecting the heater cables, assuring us that the system would start cooling again. However, within an hour, it became clear that the air conditioning still wasn't functioning properly. We reached out to Richard again, only to be informed that he was attending to another job and would visit us once he finished. Two hours later, the circuit breaker to the outside unit tripped, accompanied by a burning smell emanating from the unit. It was at this point that we began to question the competence of Palmetto Bay Air Conditioning. Richard returned later that day and shockingly declared that the compressor was shot, demanding an additional $2400.00 to fix the problem. When we raised concerns about the previous repairs and the temporary fix, Richard displayed a complete lack of professionalism, throwing his arms up in the air and dismissing our frustration with a callous "oh well, s*** happens" attitude. He left in a huff, insisting that we either pay the exorbitant amount or accept our misfortune. Throughout this entire ordeal, it became painfully evident that the system was never properly diagnosed from the start. We were not presented with any alternatives or given the opportunity to make an informed decision. As a result, we were left with a malfunctioning AC system and a significant financial loss of $500.00. The overall service provided was abysmal, and the end result was far from satisfactory. The charges levied against us simply did not align with the poor quality of service received. In conclusion, my experience with Palmetto Bay Air Conditioning was a complete nightmare. Their incompetence, lack of professionalism, and exorbitant costs have left me deeply dissatisfied.
