Javier turned what should have been an exciting time into our worst nightmare. To say that he was extremely unprofessional, dishonest, and incompetent would be an understatement. The following are some statements he made to us: "I don't have to do squat!!" as he gestured towards his crotch; "I know you're disappointed but I don't care why!"; "I know I said that I would finish those things, but I'm not!" These were written down by me in his prescence immediately after he said them. He sent us multiple back charges for mistakes that he made. For example; He was short 8 sheets of plywood (256 sq ft) in a 1230 square foot apartment; He charged us a 75% mark up on lights he purchased without our approval; We were charged more because he had to use longer screws in some areas; We were charged more for "extra" trash removal (which we removed ourselves). It was very obvious that his intentions were to give us a good price and then back charge us once the contract was signed. In some instances he attempted to charge us duplicate for services that were already paid. He also tried to charge us an inflated price that was not agreed upon. When a "general contractor" makes mention of using duct tape as a tile flange, red flags should go up. Or when he states that a refrigerator is not counter depth when the item description provided for him clearly states that it is, he should be fired. Because of his incompetence we have a wall that is 8 inches longer than it should be, making the kitchen walkway very tight. We have a toilet ordered to his specifications installed at an angle because it wouldn't fit properly. We have closet doors that don't close, and loose, uneven door handles. Our walls have cracks in them from poor drywall work. He blatantly lied to us about multiple items he said he would do but did not. This was confirmed when we contacted his subs to verify. Somehow he convinced his subs to disregard us. Some of these items include the tile edge of the balcony, backsplashes in the bathrooms, installation of bathroom wall cabinets, and closet barn door. In the end, we had to hire someone else to finish the project and correct the poor quality of work we were left with. We learned a lot about this industry from this process. Hopefully this review prevents this experience from ever happening to someone else. Javier Estrada is not someone with integrity nor is he a professional. Please do not hire this person for your future home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Javier Estrada was contracted to perform an interior remodel of a 2bed/2bath condominium. This included demolition, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, framing, and finishes.
