Magic City Appliance Repair

The fridge stopped cooling suddenly with fridge temperature at 48F and kept increasing while freezer temperature at 33F and kept increasing. Fan seemed to be working. Called Magic City at early morning (~6:30am on May 14) and made appointment. The tech called at 11 and came at around 12am. He first ruled out the problem of relay (which he said would cost $350) and gave a quote of $900 for compressor replacement. He showed compressor price of >$400. I hesitated a bit and only paid the $75 dispatch fee. I later called around to try to get better price and learned it was hard to get others' pricing without paying for the dispatch fee. One other guy told me it will be $400 at least for labor. Therefore, I called the tech again and he had the compressor replaced on the afternoon of May 15. The refrigerator started working again. Just hope it would last (Magic City offers 1 year warranty)
