Kids for kids academy is one of the few pre-schools in the country that has a science lab and teaches STEM (Science, technology, engineering and math education)
They provide daily child care (similar to day care but miles apart) through first grade. Our son recently graduated and I can say (Not because he's my child) that he is one of the most well balanced, educated, kind and caring student in his new class.
Yes, we as his parents had a lot to do with that but for the 30 hours a week he was with Ms. Davis and Kids for Kids Academy over the past few years, there has been no drop off.
The school does not own a TV and only shows "movies" on camp days. I mentioned the science lab, my son loved it and wants to be a scientist after everything he learned.
The administrator, Ms. Beth Davis, is a nationally recognized leader (and Best Selling Author) in the area of early childhood learning and it shows in everything they do there.
If you want the best education in the area, you can do no better than Kids for Kids Academy - they are truly in a class by themselves.
They provide breakfast, lunch and snacks for my children as well as have diapers included in the cost of tuition. The food is often really processed stuff (canned veggies and fruit, nutrigrain bars for breakfast, etc), but there is a focus on balanced nutrition and there is a culture of healthy eating even if the prepared meals don't quite deliver on that.
For a school that focuses on science I wish there was more of a focus on being ecologically sound and green. But that is splitting hairs. My children are offered developmentally appropriate lessons, play outside several times a day, feel safe and loved. There isn't much more to ask for. The office staff is organized and efficient and have solved any administrative issues and questions in a timely manner. It is a pretty well oiled machine.
When our nanny left 2 years ago, we were so concerned about how he would interact with the other children especially since he wasn’t walking yet.
The school owner/administrator, Mrs. Beth Davis assured us that he would come along fine and start walking very soon. She was right! In no time he was walking well on his own and talking about his new school friends every day.
Since then Sean has thrived at Kids for Kids Academy School! His language and communication skills are superior to other children we know of the same age but don't go to Kids for Kids Academy. The same can be said of the rest of the kids in his class as well.
Beth Davis, who worked as a highly regarded science teacher in the Miami-Dade school system for over 20 years, has created a truly one-of-a-kind school that is worth the extra few minutes I have to drive daily (passing two other and quot;day-cares' along the way).
Make no mistake about it, this is a school not a day-care. Even though they take kids as young as 1 year, Real Learning happens there. There are no TV's babysitting. The kids have a lesson plan, created by Beth Davis that she calls hands-on, minds-on that is first rate. Their classes include music, fitness and Spanish.
There is also a Science Lab at the school and is taught by Mrs. Davis herself. Really an age appropriate, hands on, science and learning lab in a pre-school - the kids LOVE it. I think it's the only one in the state and one of only a few in the entire country.
Her teachers are all highly trained professionals who handle their students with loving care and always greet each parent and child with a smile.
It's not just us who love them, they are across the street from Jack Gordon Elementary where kindergarten and first grade are free - yet their Kindergarten and First Grade are full of kids whose parents are thrilled enough to keep them there.
A neighbor of ours loves them so much when we told her we were putting Sean in a closer day-care (having not heard about Kids for Kids Academy) she gushed for 20 minutes about how great the school was and insisted we go see them. The next day we did and we are so happy we made the choice to put Sean there.
We recommend them highly to anyone who has one or more kids from age 1 through 2nd grade. Our only complaint is that they don’t go through 6th grade so he can stay in that wonderful, caring learning environment. Although I keep asking them to - so who knows?
