Worst company ever! All windows installed are dented and have scratches (blue tap on the images) They are the most incompetent and dishonest people to work with. The entire process has been a **** show. First, they ordered the wrong with the wrong specs. After installing the windows, we have been waiting months to get all those issues rectified and to get what we ordered. Stay away from Hurricane Windows and Screens. The good reviews must be paid reviews as they are far from being a good and honest company.

I check other companies and Hurricane Window and Screen gave the best price and the service and outcome were excellent. The installation crew was very professional and the work proceeded without problems and on time. The office personnel were courteous, efficient, and helpful. I recommended this company to a friend, she had all her windows and doors replace by Hurricane Window and Screen and she is also very satisfied with their work and service.

The entire job went remarkably well.  Windows and doors were delivered on time as promised.  Installation took a couple days longer than expected, but it was a small price to pay for getting it done right.  The only thing we had to do after the job was installed,   was paint.

It was a very smooth transaction from beginning to end.
The prices were the lowest for the American made windows with 10 year warranty.
The only cheaper prices were for the imported low quality windows.
They were punctual and delivered everything as promised.
They covered the openings over night to protect from the rain although
there was no rain in the forecast.
I would use them again without doubt.

I have used this company for three consecutive years in a row starting in January of 2007. I'd called multiple hurricane window installers about replacing my windows with Hurricane windows. ONLY one company Hurricane Window & Screen responded right away. Few responded at all.
Their estimator came out within 48 hours and was on time and very professional.
The installers came out to take measurements right away too. Within 2.5 weeks my windows were ready to be installed. Some of my windows were not of standard size either.
Everyone from the sales personal, office personal, installers, and estimators were fantastic. Since window replacement is not inexpensive I continue each year through 2010 replacing multiple windows each year. Their service NEVER changed. Always excellent.
I referred many friends to this company all of them used Hurricane Window & Screen too and everyone was treated excellently too.
I'm very very impressed with this company and you will be too.

Overall the project went very well. Originally I did not even consider using Hurricane Window and Screen (located less than two miles from my home) due to an overall "C" rating in Angie's list. I had received quotes from several highly rated (Angie's List) service providers and was planning to sign a contract with one located in Broward County. On a whim I decided to visit Hurricane Window. I had used Hurricane Window in the past for servicing my windows without any problems, and I was a bit concerned about a contractor from out of the area given the strict zoning and inspections in my village. I met with Robert Herrera and candidly discuss my conserns about using Hurricane for the project. He was surprised and concerned, and shared my feeling with the owner of Hurricane. They wanted the opportunity to show me they could do the job and assured me that I would not be disappointed in their performance. I checked their references and decided that it would probably be easier to deal with a local service provider if there was a problem than one in the next county. Hurricane delivered the windows on schedule. The permit was pulled and about one week later the installers arrived. Working on one opening at a time, the installers laid tarps in each room, and moved and covered the furniture before starting any work. While one installer was cutting or drilling, another was using a vacuum to suction the dust. After each new window was installed, they cleaned up and re-installed any window treatments. The job was virtually dust free! Robert visited the job site each of the three days the installers worked on the installation. After all the windows were installed, Robert performed a detailed inspection and prepared a punch list for the installer. The Building and Zoning inspection was clean, and upon leaving the inspector mentioned that "these guys are good...we have never had any problems with them." The next day the installers returned to add the trim that could not be installed until after the inspection. Both Robert and the installer told me to contact them immediately if I discovered anything while touching up the stucco work on the window openings. My wife and I are completely satisfied with the job. I feel I made the right decision by giving Hurricane Window the chance to prove themselves, and plan to use them to replace the seven door and sliding glass door openings with french doors.

One of the windows was leaking two years later and they came out right away to take care of the problem. I was very impressed with the customer service, the repair man checked the caulking on all of the windows and re-caulked them all free of charge. They stand by their work.

Getting an appointment with the guy was hard. They don't call when they say they're going to call. When I finally got them to come out they gave me two quotes. One for the upstairs and one for the whole house. When they finished the work my bill was much more then the estimates. They didn't have the shutters when they said they would. About the only positive thing about the experience were the two gentlemen that installed the shutters. They walked me through how to work thet shutters when they were done. They were really nice.
Response from Hurricane window and screen

"We got a B for punctuality. Sometimes customers do not understand that when we order custom products it is not in our hands to meet every promise. We try very hard to do that. We would love every job to be smooth as possible."

Robert Herrera is very personable and they had done one window replacement for me previously. I paid more than the lowest bid hoping for similar quality installation. I also pulled my own permit since they charge $700 for $85 fees. The installers were Robert's father and some other guy, neither of whom spoke English and my Spanish isn't adequate to compensate. Each window was worse than the previous installation, as they got tired, and my house took a real beating. They didn't know how to use their shop vac and filled my entire house with plaster dust. They LOVE caulk and used it everywhere, even to fill voids. It's hell to get off. I would never allow those 2 guys near my home again. I should have stopped them after the first window when it wouldn't crank open. If you buy from them, beware the installers and make sure you get a permit. Robert is a nice guy, but that's not a reason to buy if the rest isn't worth it and PGT is available everywhere.

A smooth talking owner with an installation supervisor that attempts to bully the client. The sales process was fine. When they were installing the door, they had the jam 2" above the floor. I told them that that was unacceptable. It was a tripping hazard. I was informed that that would cost an extra $200. When I complained, they stopped working until the installation supervisor came by with a change order that I would have to sign. He informed me that either I sign it or he would put my old door back on. Nice...! My old door and frame were in pieces on my lawn. I was also informed that I would require aluminum tubing to fill gaps in the frame. Another $160 change order was required to be signed. They allow poor estimates and installations to facilitate expensive change orders. Also, when I received my invoice, there was a verbal change I had made that was not agreed upon. Instead of negotiating in good faith, Mr. Al Jamal had my account sent to a collection agency. Inept bullies.
Response from Hurricane window and screen

"The customer was told that we are giving an estimate and until we remove the old door we do not know exactly what repairs we have to do and the cost of the repairs. We do not mark the repairs up but we try to help the customer. This customer was totally unreasonable."

I got several estimates and their estimate for the exact same windows were $6500 less then their competitors. Robert Herrera was very attentive and explained everything in detail and did an excellent job. They've been in business for 24 years so their customer service speaks for itself.

Worst company I've ever dealt with. Absolutely horrible customer service, they lied constantly about delivery times and installation. Many windows were reduced from the spec sheet or changed completely. I am still waiting for them to return damaged screens and make final adjustments, I don't know how this company stays in business.
Response from Hurricane window and screen

"We have no record of this transaction...We do business in Miami and have no business in NC..."

The overall experience was like living in a nightmare and never waking up! They were awful. They delivered the wrong windows, I had to take time off from work, with no shows. They did not honor their schedules, had ridiculous excuses for not arriving, and when the window installers did arrive, they were nothing short of psychos. I had to move furniture because if I didn't they would just leave because they were not furniture movers. They asked for food, they did not show up until after noon when they were supposed to arrive at 9:00am. The shutters were another nightmare, I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau twice and I am considering contacting the State Attorneys office to investigate them. Their work on the windows were acceptable to the inspector however, the aggravation of getting them out there and the installers were unacceptable. The boys they sent to install the shutters did not listen to instruction as a result have to come out to fix the damage.

It is difficult to understand how a supposedly reputable company would treat their customers in this way. They make no effort to keep the customer advised of updates. They do not return phone calls or keep their word about completion/satisfaction of a job. I don't care if they finish tomorrow, I would never recommend this company to anyone. It is inconceivable that we have been waiting now for over 4 weeks for completion of this work. We have other work "on hold" (hurricane shutters) because this job is not finished! The worst and most frustrating part of this whole experience is the lack of response from the owner. He says he'll call you back and never does. You leave messages on his voice mail and he doesn't call back. I even went to the shop in person, waited a 1/2 hour for him, and although he was there, he never came out to see me. Stay away from this business if you want good customer service!!!!

I GAVE THEM HALF ON THE PRICE AS A DEPOSIT. THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME TO START THE JOB, BUT THE WORK IS NOT COMPLETED AND THEY WILL NOT RETURN ANY OF MY CALLS.
Response from Hurricane window and screen

"The job was finished with a delay due to manufacture delay. Job was finished after this report."
