Door Service
All deadlines were missed, even though he agreed to have all work completed before the onset of hurricane season. Finally, after dozens of phone calls and finally threat of legal action, he sent someone to install the smaller of the two doors. The workmanship of this installation was excellent but the carpenter was a subcontractor, and did not work for House of Doors. In attempting to get the job finished and the main entrance door installed (for which we had given a 50% deposit) the owner would rarely return any of our many, many phone calls. When he did return a call he made promises which were never kept. Months later, when we were finally able to contact him again -- certainly, I believe, because we had called from a different phone and he did not recognize the number -- we asked for a refund of our money. He then admitted that he had no money and was only completing jobs when he could use the funds from a new job to complete an older one. He said he would have money the following Wednesday and would send the refund -- but he never sent us a check or returned any further calls. Small claims court has issued a default judgment against him. These people are "the worse case scenario" for any contractor -- I would never, ever, suggest that anyone deal with them. Even when you go to their small showroom it is usually closed and you must make an appointment.

Door Service
The door was on sale in their showroom, we liked it and purchased it in Nov. 2007. I ordered side panels to match in January '08. They gave me a 4-6 week deadline for completion and installation. Weeks passed, then months, still no door or panels. I called many times a month, got many polite excuses, and yet another 2-4 weeks to wait each time. I believed them, but now that nine months have passed, I've sent a demand letter, either the door/panels or my money back, no restocking fee, either. If you want a standard door off the shelf, I bet this company is OK. But if you need a custom job, find another company.

Door Service
Representative was 30 minutes late for measuring appointment without apology. Door was not delivered on install date and I was not informed of the delay until I contacted the company. When install was performed, the installers were polite, professional and very tidy. The door is absolutely beautiful. The price was reasonable for this area and style of door. Don't forget to haggle! We saved a few hundred dollars and received a free peephole and deadbolt.

I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE. HOWEVER, THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK WAS GREAT. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND GOT THE JOB DONE IN NO TIME AT ALL.
