I bought a house I shouldn't have, if the inspector would have done the job he was hired to do. I'm presently living a nightmare!!

"AS PER THE AFFIDAVIT FILED WITH FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE & CONSUMER SERVICES, DIVISION OF AGRICULTURAL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES AND THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS REGULATION The member contacted me for the visual home inspection in August of 2011. I performed a visual inspection on 8-25-2011 which included the visual inspection of the roof, WDO(Pest-Termite), Structural, Electrical, A/C System, Appliances, Plumbing, Interior, Exterior for a fee of $300.00. The member contacted me approximately 2 ½ months later and told me that he was running cable TV wiring in the attic, while moving around insulation to run the wires from the attic into the bedrooms he found termites. I responded to the member’s email that the WDO inspection is a report made on the basis of what was visible and readily accessible at the time of inspection and does not constitute a guarantee of the absence of wood-destroying organism (WDOs) or damage or other evidence unless this report specifically states herein the extent of such guarantee. Just as it is printed in caps and bold letters on the WDO inspection report that he was provided with on 8-25-11. The member did not accept this and decided to contact the DACS (Dept of Agriculture & Consumer Services), Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Lee, the state inspector for DACS, contacted me and I offered to refund the member the $300 which is the full amount of the inspection. At that point the member requested my insurance information so he could determine whether to accept the $300. At that point according to my insurance agent the member proceeded to place a claim with my insurance company for $50,000.00. Now he is claiming plumbing problems. The member decided to buy a 34 year old house and now he wants my insurance to update his property. I have been performing WDO’s for 21 years with approximately 10,000 inspections and never have had one (1) complaint. Please take this into account. I CAN'T comment any further because my attorneys are handling the case. Thank you, Pedro P. Gonzalez Five Star Building Inspections, Inc. Tel: 305-278-1177"
