We wanted to put in bamboo flooring to lighten a room.. Within 7 months the flooring started cupping - warping on the edges of the boards. After much run around from Home Depot they washed their hands of the issue. They blamed the moisture in the concrete slab of my home for the cupping. To us it was obviously the installation that was the problem because the floor we had taken out had absolutely no issues.
Originally a moisture barrier was on the work order for the installation. But the "experts" said it was not needed because they were going to use a glue that had moisture barrier built in. The cupping is not happening in places where a water leak might be a issue - walls shared with a bathroom or by the exterior wall. The cause was due to the glue not being properly applied in areas.
When I called Fifty Stars to find out about the moisture reading of the concrete slab when they did the installation, the owner, Andres Arias Duval, wanted to address the problem. He offered to sand the floor to even it out and refinish it. The machine he needed was in the shop waiting for parts, but just as soon as it was fixed he would stand behind his work. I believed him. He seemed most sincere and was able to string me along for 6 months. I called and the machine was not ready. I called again and he had gotten his machine back. He was going to call to schedule. I called him a few more times. I offered to pay for the refinishing because I wanted to get ready to sell my home. I heard nothing from him. I called again and said please just let me know if you cannot do the work because I will contact some one else - I'm on a deadline. I have heard nothing from him again.
He seemed very nice. He appeared sincere. But he led me on for 6 months.
