Deco Floors LLC is a father and son team, Omar Junior and Senior. As a small family-owned business, you deal directly with the installers, not a manager or supervisor. Father mostly speaks Spanish, and son is thoroughly bi-lingual. So, right off, communications are direct, a great benefit in a large and expensive floor job.
They need no supervision. I gave them the keys, they kept me informed (almost always), and I inspected periodically. A couple of mismatched tiles were changed out, and after-the-job grinding adjustments were made to just three seams of the hundreds laid on the floor. All the work was performed, on budget, as agreed, without contractor complaints, add-ons, extras or up-charges.
The floor is nearly as level as could be in a poured concrete mid-rise condominium. They perfectly laid out the tile pattern so it was centered on the living room and a central hallway, giving an expert professional look to the layout.
I had an unavoidable problem with a GE Profile slide-in range after tile installation, as the tile raised the floor and the range would not be flush with the black granite without completely removing the levelers. Although it was not the "professional" way, I would now leave the old tile under the slide-in range (recessed to avoid visibility), while completely replacing the floor under the refrigerator, of course. I solved the problem; I just would change the solution in the future if I did it over again. (Not likely.)
I also had a problem with an incredible amount of construction dust. Again, this is unavoidable and just part of the pro's and con's of any renovation. Demo-ing the existing floor, and cutting and grinding edges indoors are the primary sources of the fine microscopic dust. If you turn off the A/C in South Florida, the workplace becomes too hot and humid. If you leave the A/C on, you should replace your A/C air handler paper filter daily during this work.
The job is beautiful. After 20 years personal experience in managing construction and renovation of commercial and industrial buildings, I cannot find fault with any of it. And this is according to Northern USA construction practices, not the more casual and less disciplined norm in South Florida where absenteeism and paying attention can be significant problems.
This family team is worth waiting for, should they be backed up with weeks of work. Book far ahead of time, and you will have as painless experience as possible with a major stone floor renovation, while smiling at the craftsmanship of the job. Stone work should last generations, so choose carefully and check recent references.
Summarizing, I could only wish that all my contractors and vendors are as honest, responsible, trained, careful, and proud of their expertly crafted job.

My experience with Deco Floors was excellent! They worked efficiently, arriving early everyday. They worked very neatly and would clean up after each workday to minimize all the dust. They moved all of our furniture carefully when they began installing the marble and then carefully moved everything back to its place when they finished. Deco Floors worked very professionally and demonstrated excellent work ethic. My floors and bathroom look gorgeous! The results were worth every penny!
