Art's crew had to remove the defective coat of polyurethane from the floors (lots of patience required) before thoroughly cleaning the floors and applying a new coat of Bona Traffic. When applying the new coat of finish they used two separate chemical bonding systems and the new coat properly bonded to the original finish.

From the minute we met Art, we knew we wanted to hire him. The man knows his trade and is very professional and courteous. Our job was a rather extensive one that included a curved staircase and other little nuances. Art handcrafted the steps on our staircase himself out of solid hickory. Even though it was a lot more work than he had anticipated upon initially quoting the job, he did not charge us extra. We did have one or two hiccups during the project, which again was extensive so is to be expected, but Art addressed each very comprehensively and made sure our concerns were met. His team always cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.

They were quick and the quality of their work was really good. Their price was fair compared to the other guys that came by.

I called Art to refinish some hardwoods I found under some laid tile. The floors were in pretty rough shape... and they did the best they could.
There were urine stains which don't come out easy with hardwoods. I did know this was an issue but wish I was made more aware that the floors weren't on track to come out as I had hoped. Until the very last walk through, I was told that they couldn't be fixed completely.
Art himself didn't do any work, but had two subs/helpers. They were okay. They weren't as clean and careful as I had hoped and their quality of work could have been better.

Update: Any board that were replaced by these guys has a space on one side. Dirt and food get's caught in them and it looks bad. Not good workmanship.

The man in charge was Art, and he was terrific. His team of workers were very hardworking, respectful, and clean! They always kept a double plastic barrier draped up to contain the dust from the sanding. Also they were on time each day, and worked very long hours to get this large project completed as quickly as possible. It took two- three weeks overall, but no one could have done it any faster because of the curing time needed between each coat of stain and sealer. I highly recommend this company and always meant to give them a review on Angie's List -- finally tonight as I was looking for other contractors, I saw their name pop up for review and decided to take the time to say how pleased we have been with their work. Our redone finished floor actually looked much better than from the original installer . From looking at my receipts I see their address used to be in Hialeah, but the name is exactly the same. So I assume this is still the same company that I dealt with. I would definitely use them again!

Art is a nice guy but the job was executed poorly. Art responded to my initial phone call and came out out quickly to quote the job. He was very knowledgeable about the process so I decided to go with him. The job over ran the projected time, but that can be expected. Upon detailed inspection of the floors I was astonished to see that they had varnished the wood floors with a lot of dirt and debris on it so now the debris was locked on top of the floor in many locations. Additionally the areas where they replaced sections was "cupping" and looked fairly unprofessional. To add that little extra flare of complete un-professionalisms they used my AC during the sanding process and removed the filter (who knows why) which caused my condenser to be covered in saw dust. After I complained to Art about all the issues he promised to fix everything.. That was close to a year ago and nothing.

First Off, He responded to my call immediately. The job was priced fairly, and the work was done timely. Al was a pleasure to work with, and he even gave us tips on the care of the floor, which came out looking gorgeous!

While Art was reasonably OK to deal with the people he had working for him were a nightmare. Firstly, they never came on time. The job was supposed to take a week, it took almost a month. Secondly, there were multiple issues with the installation which I had to point out to get fixed. Some of the problems included - poorly installed floors with 'hollow' gaps so that when you walked on it you heard that it was hollow and not installed properly, gaps between the planks (which seems like the most basic thing - I dont understand how this was an issue), non-installation of floor sockets. I still have some issues that were just never resolved because it was taking forever and I had to move in. They also spoke very little English and so it was very hard to communicate with them to deal with these issues so I had to go through Art. They were also not very respectful with my simple asks (like to use the guest restroom instead of my personal bathroom). Art seems very busy and overstretched and cannot manage all his projects.

The owner of the company - Art was very accommodating and punctual. He always answers the phone, never late for appointments and very professional. The problem however is not with the owner, it's with the workers that work for him. The hardwood refinishing job was executed badly. The 1st time after the floor was finished, I've asked Art to redo the circular hall area around the staircase. He agreed immediately to redo this specific area as the waives and deep marks from the sanding equipment were clearly visible on the floor. The 2nd time the result was more or less the same. Some areas in the hall showed some improvements, whereas other areas became worse. Overall the big areas such as rooms came out OK, not perfect though as some marks can still be seen on the floor. However the smaller areas such as circular hall around staircase and small halls connecting rooms to the circular hall were completely unexeptable and showed uneven and waivy floor. The problem I believe has to do with the skills and equipment the workers have used. They have used big sanding machines for large unobstracted areas, but they used small hand-held sanding machines for small areas. The small hand-held machines leaved many deep marks and waives on the floor. I guess the workers lacked the skills required to use small hand-held sanding machines for sanding small, circular and angled areas.
The owner of the company acknowledged the problems, agreed to take a reduced fee and apologized, but this doesn't make it any easier for me. The floor doesn't look right and will have to be redone some time in the future again.
One last comment - workers have left stains everywhere - on the baseboards, door frames, stone steps, etc. The dust has not been thoroughly cleaned, overall very negative impression on the quality of the job. The workers clearly don't care about the results and impressions left.
This company may be OK to use for new floor installations, however it should be avoided for refinishing of existing hardwood floors.

This is a difficult review to write. The owner, Art, is a solid professional. It is clear that he is highly knowledgeable (I received 3 different estimates for the floor refinishing and I thought Art demonstrated the best knowledge of hardwood floors); he returned my phone calls promptly, including on a Sunday; and he was very nice and cordial throughout our interaction. The issue was that he was highly overextended while he was working on our home. He had to pull his workers away from our house in the middle of the sanding job for 2 days (apparently to assist with another job) - as a result, not only was the work on our home delayed but our house was sealed without A/C for 2 days. The appliances in the house, including A/C vents, were also not adequately covered during the sanding, resulting in horrific dust. When I spoke with other people about their floor refinishing, I was informed that many companies will clean up the dust after finishing the floors. We were left not only with significant dust throughout (i.e. inside drawers, on the walls, etc.) but the team had left a dark stain on the wall and accidentally glued a piece of wood to a windowsill. Art demonstrated a willingness to help address the problem but when he came to the property on two different occasions, he lacked the material necessary to remove the stain and we have not heard from him again since (nearly 2 weeks). In general, the floors look good, although there are some places where the sanding did not seem to be complete and where some of the previous floor finish remains (a few areas around some floor boards) but it is clear that significant work was done by hand to reach challenging spots and be thorough. I largely would not recommend Craftsman to others because I think Art and the company are stretched too thin but I would definitely recommend him f he had more staff or sequenced the work better (he did the estimate on a Wed and started work the following Monday so was highly responsive in that respect but I would rather have waited an extra week if that meant his staff could have undertaken the work without interruption).

I would recommend Craftsman Wood Floors to anyone! We had our Brazilian Cherry hardwood floors replaced and refinished Need to be replaced due to water damage from a broken pipe. Arts crew arrived on-time, were friendly, worked quickly and finished the job in timely manner. Our floors look amazing! Art took the time an explained the process... He is a gem! Nice And honest... Trust him! Speaks english! Easy to communicate with. Everyone comments on my how amazing my floors look!

Dont hesitate to hire this company.... he will bend over backwoods to make you happy and do the job right!
