Her surgery itself went very well; we even decided to get the dog's teeth cleaned also since we figured she was going to be under anesthesia anyway. $900 including teeth cleaning under the gum line was reasonable. However, our dog was having the strangest complications - she developed a huge lump by her waist on the same side as her surgery yet it was nowhere near the incision which was at her left shoulder! Dr. McCoy at first thought it was a possible allergic reaction to one of the injections my dog got during surgery (as did I) and recommended warm Epsom salt compresses done twice/ day for 20 min. As a precaution, he drew about 12 cc fluid (quite a bit) off her lump to have it tested. Only it turned out to be a Pseudomonas infection that was resistant to the current antibiotics she was taking! Now things were starting to get pretty expensive with the costs for the labwork analysis and a new round of different antibiotics, luckily no charges for the exam work. I spoke in detail with another vet in the practice Dr. Crespo who was covering for Dr. McCoy that day when the labwork came back; the type of infection my dog got is usually found in dogs' mouths and only could occur if she was either wounded in a dog fight or bitten by another dog when playing which was ruled out as absolutely not as the skin was not broken. They also checked the bottles to make sure they weren't contamininated and the source of the infection (they were brand new but checked them out anyway). Long story short, we couldn't figure out for sure what was the cause of it other than a possible bug sitting on her fur/skin that somehow got in when she received her injection during surgery. Dr. Crespo refunded me the costs for the new antibiotics which took about 2 weeks to finally get rid of her infection for once and for all. And my dog's follow-up exam to remove her sutures went well and uneventful with the incision clean and well-healed. All the vets involved with my dog's care were excellent especially Dr. McCoy who takes the time to explain things well and demonstrate any hands-on care that needs to be done; he is quite thorough. I would still take my dogs there if I hadn't moved out of the area even with this strange complication from my dog's surgery. This practice is not only very professional but responsible and ethical. Another vet practice would not have handled this particular situation as well as Bayshore Veterinary Clinic did.

Location is good, office is super nice and the staff is good also, They were just very expensive. I never expected a vet wellness appointment to be $300!

We were very impressed with her attention to detail and her knowledge of techniques and medications. We also were impressed because she had a real affinity for the dogs.

Veterinarians, Animal Boarding Kennels + 1 more
They are really good. They are great, they follow-up after a visit. They really take care, they check in on the animals, even if it's a blood test or something, and it doesn't really going to affect the animal at all. If I found an animal, they acquire them too. They help in finding a home for any animal. They are very caring people. I think in general annual check-up with annual shots, and 6 months of medicine, costs about $100. We usually end up paying around $200 for the annual check-up, and we buy medicines too. One of the things is that I can find a coupon, like for medicines when I'm online, and preferred to what they offer directly, they honor the coupon and I find their price online much lesser. So I can save some money by searching online, and I find the price on the website is less expensive than going directly and they'll also give the price I found online. They do boarding, like they have kennel at the back. They also do grooming, we had them do grooming for our dog, they do teeth cleaning, and sometimes you have to anesthetize an animal to see his teeth depending on how they are. There have been a couple of times they had us come in and they haven't charged us for it, like if they wanted to double check the test result or so. They are not exactly on time but, I don't have to really wait for more than 10 to 15 minutes.

Although I thought that Bayshores prices were high I was willing to pay for such a dedicated Vet. What chased me out screaming was the add on sales that were pushed on the customer after service is performed. After being talked into having my dogs teeth cleaned they tried to sell me all kinds of assorted medicine that was not mentioned before treatment. Felt I was being taken. Almost like the old bait and switch. Great vet but poorly run office and to much hard sell.

I had a bad experience with the boarding. I boarded the dog for a week. When I took him in, he was a very healthy dog. He always has been a very healthy dog. He is dead now. He was a dog who was never sick in his whole life. When I picked him up from Bayshore after a week, he was extremely sluggish. He barely walked. He was in a stooper. The staff would not acknowledge that he was not normal. I approximately spent $300 for a week for the boarding. I notified the staff about this. First I had thought that he had just woken up from a nap. They had woken him up from a nap when I picked him up. When I took him home, I realized that he was sick. I called the vet and said that my dog is sick. They offered me to do anything. When I asked them aren't you going to take any responsibility for this like examining the dog and they were okay. I bought the dog in and they gave a free checkup to the dog. That was only after I had asked for it. They never offered themselves. I didn't like the fact that they give us a dog who is sick. When I first came in to pick up the dog, one of the vets did come out to me and she said that I should have my dog's urinalysis in a year. Assuming that the dog picked up an infection from another dog in the kennel, it is a very well run vet, and I have no reason to suspect the hygienics of their kennel. I assumed that he picked up a virus from another dog. The vet said nothing about the dog being sick. She casually said to have his urine checked once a year. When he came out, I started to think this is not normal as he wakes up pretty quickly when I wake him up. This is not normal. The vet did a blood test and urinalysis. That came back within the normal range. He charged me for that, which I didn’t like. The vet's prices are expensive. That's one thing I don't like bout them. I didn't have a really good experience. They charged me for the exam of the dog that went sick while he was in their kennel. They should have taken the responsibility for that. Only one good thing was, when my dog died, they sent me a sympathy card with each person among the staff writing a little note on the card. It was the most moving thing. I went over and thanked them for doing that. I will not use them again in the future.

One of my cats was losing weight and energy and just "wasn't himself." Bayshore Veterinary Clinic quickly responded to my request for an appointment, making room in the schedule that afternoon. The clinic has a large staff of veterinary techs, all very personable and eager to help, making clients (both human and animal) feel welcome and in good hands. Dr. Crespo (one of two vets on the staff) examined my cat, listed a number of illnesses that could be a factor, including an infection and hypothyroidism (both later confirmed by lab tests) and suggested a battery of tests. The clinic conducted the tests quickly and with minimal disruption to my cat. All together, I was in and out in an hour. The next day, Dr. Crespo phoned in the morning as promised with preliminary results, then called again two days later with final lab results, again exactly as promised. With the results in, she prescribed medicine for the infection and spent a great deal of time with me on the phone going over my options for treating the hypothyroidism. There are several options of varying cost and I felt no pressure to choose one over another. She took the time to carefully explain each option and when I made my choice, requiring follow-up procedures at a specialist veterinarian, she consulted with the specialist, provided all the records and made the appointment for further treatment. I was very impressed by the professionalism of the entire staff at Bayshore Veterinary Clinic - they are caring people who take their work seriously. This is not bargain-priced health care, but each test and procedure was explained so there was no surprise at the resulting bill. This clinic seems to me to offer the best option for personalized care with extensive resources on site, and the willingness to refer off-site when specialized care is needed. That specialized care will cost an additional amount not reflected in this report, but I come away from the encounter feeling every bit of this experience was a good value. I recommend Bayshore Veterinary Clinic without any reservation.

I think it's pathetic. One problem with all these clinics is that they are a rip-off because they all overcharge. A long time ago they were all affordable, but now they are not. They have become corporate like and it's terrible. They have inflated office visit costs. What really killed me about this place is that the vet kept calling my dog a her and he's a boy. It's kind of alarming that he doesn't even observe the gender of the dog, even though he was checking him.

The care and concern given by Dr. Crespo and the staff were more than I could have ever hoped for. They went above and beyond my expectations. My beloved cat, Lulu, was extremely sick and we were both treated with the greatest kindness, sympathy, and respect. They were so gentle and sweet to this timid little cat, and she responded to their care and love. They made her last few days comfortable and serene. She was not afraid because they treated her with so much kindness. When I sadly had to have her put to sleep, Dr. Crespo was most respectful and caring, of both Lulu and me. The procedure was handled with great kindness, dignity and sympathy. I have never been to a better veterinarian. All of the people working at the clinic were friendly, professional and extremely sympathetic. I have nothing but the highest praise for them. Their prices were most reasonable for the amount of care they gave to Lulu. They obviously love what they do and I recommend them very highly.

I find their price is about average, and they care about the animals they attend to. They don't medicate or sedate my cat, and I think that's great because that way they can see how my cat is feeling. They always call back afterwards to see how my cat is doing. They are very good and very nice people.

If you had some work done on your dog, they will call back to follow-up to see how our dog is doing. If there is a problem you can call them anytime, 24 hours a day and they can tell you where to go. I would highly recommend them.

I really like that Dr. McCoy. The prices at this vet might be a smidge high. The services are just great though. Dr. McCoy himself is a vet who is always very concerned about your animal and very genuine and real. He has saved the lives of several of my animals to date. I would highly recommend him. His skill level is amazing.

Excellent service! The staff was kind and friendly. They even called the day after surgery to find out how my dog was doing. They were fantastic! The price was very fair compared to other veterinarians in the area. Despite the circumstances (pet being sick), it was a very pleasant experience!
