Angel answered quickly, explained that he had two other calls ahead of us, and estimated that he would be there at 5 (we called around 2:30). And indeed he showed up on time (a bit early). He quickly replaced the copper pipe (after explaining that the previous owner had done 'mickey mouse' repairs to the pipe - just tried to solder it shut) and was finished within an hour.
He was professional, worked quickly and carefully, and showed us what he had fixed (and in fact discovered another problem with how the on-demand heater had been installed - and fixed that too). He clearly explained the rates (which, of course, are higher outside of normal working hours).
It wasn't the cheapest but he got the job done and we felt very positive about his work.
As soon as he pulled the pie he determined that the clog was caused by a grease build up over years. Also you can see that no snake went through that section of pipe.
I spoke to the owner who said there was no guarantee that when they snaked the pipes it would clear it.
this operation and it always goes well.
But I have not used Bay - until now - for regular plumbing jobs. On the afternoon of April 24, a team of
landscapers were working in my back yard. Suddenly, when they were digging in a large plant bed, there
was a huge amount of water coming out. From recent high water bills, I knew I had a leak somewhere,
but did not want to pay a fortune for someone to find it. The landscapers did not know how to turn
off the water - fortunately, I had a T handle in my garage, which someone had told me to obtain when
I first bought my house. So, the water got turned off. Then I went inside and called Bay, because they
are the closest plumber to my house. A nice lady answered the phone and said she would see who was
available and would call me back. She did call, within 20 minutes. In another 20 minutes, 2 plumbers
showed up at my house (one of them was named Angel), and in another hour, the pipe was repaired.
(Tree roots had been wrapped around it and had caused the leak.) The bill - for 2 plumbers for an hour -
was $197. Amazing. i will now use Bay for all my plumbing needs.
My review is actually for A to Z Statewide Plumbing (1 800 930 1123). I am not sure that is the same company as Bay Plumbing Company.
I also thought that the charge was high considering work done (and time spent doing it). Didn't think it was value for money. Will wait to see if they will come back. By the way , I was told that they would waive $89 consultaion fee due Angie's list reference. But not sure that it was actually done since the plumber came and then told me the job would be $264.
I was happy though with the response as they came on the same day I made the request inspite of the delay. The plumber who came was polite. He informed me that if the machine faied to do the job he would get another machine. I was actually expecting him to do that but he didn't. I hope they do come back if I call. Iverall the experience was Ok. No major problems.
