My cats (brother and sister) are four and a half years old and I have had them since they were four weeks old, so I was really nervous about leaving them with someone, however, I had no choice seeing as our house was being tented. I visited the Cat House before I dropped off my cats. I showed up without ever calling and without an appointment. Josie was kind and pleasant and gave me tour of the Cat House explaining everything to me. My cats were there 3 days ($35/day per cat) and Josie called me with updates 2 of the 3 days, letting me know how the cats were doing. My cats were a little uneasy when I picked them up (as was expected) but were back to normal within an hour or two of being home. My husband and I have someone stay at the house while we are on vacation to watch the cats, however, it is nice to know that there is another option, if needed.

This is my first time having a cat and I guess I hadn't realized how difficult it is to find a place to get my little Moxie done up so of course when I found "A country cat house" I was so happy.  When I arrived on my first visit they were sooo friendly and told me what they would be doing and talked about all the years of experience they have.
That said, Moxie is not one of those cats you see on YouTube relaxing in a warm bath or just floating around in the bathtub.  She's more like the one that will claw though you to get away (I know from personal experience >.<).  However, I thought that taking her to a cat only groomer with so many years of experience would be perfect because of course they would know how to handle her and treat her with love and care.  Well, I was wrong on one account.  Of the maybe 4 times I took Moxie there when I would go to pick her up they would go on about how difficult she is.  When I would hold her on the car ride home she would cry the whole way and I would be covered in hair (which if she was just groomed I shouldn't be).  After the second visit they raised the rate on me and suggested I get a sedative from the vet to give her before her next appointment.  I'm sorry but that is not okay.
I took her to PetSmart after that and the guy said she was perfectly fine and no trouble at all and when I took her to the vet to get her nails clipped they said she wasn't a problem either.  So, that leads me to believe they are just not as prepared and they think they are.  Sad.
Also, cash only!  This day and age that can be quite inconvenient especially for someone like me that never carries cash.

Response from A COUNTRY CAT HOUSE
"1st week of June of this year we read this exact same review on Yelp and we replied the next day. Your review and our reply are not longer there. Our records indicate that you visited us 4/16/13 (service $25) 5/11/13 (service $25) and the last time 8/24/13 (service $40) and you indicate in this review that we service you on 7/15/14 but we can’t find any record of that. We service 3x not 4x. We were courteous with you as we are with all our clients. We have been in business since 1986 and our groomer has been with us since 1991. We don’t exaggerate or brag about this. We are very experienced offering this service to cats only and we handle them with loving care and patience. As we all know due to their nature cats can be unpredictable, some of them can be more difficult to handle or sometime we can’t even provide the service. The same applies the cat owners. From the first 1st visit we mentioned to you that your kitten represented certain level of difficulty probably because she was not spayed. She is also a pure breed cat that can be a factor for certain cats to have certain level of “cattitude”. If we recommended that you acquire a pill from your vet to it was thinking on your cat’s safety and staff. Our recommendation is up to owner to take it or not. Our records indicate that on your last visit you told us that you gave your cat the pill prescribed by your vet and contrary to expected she was more challenging than ever, we did not observed the habitual characteristics of a cat that is under the effect of a tranquilizer pill (maybe she never swallowed the pill (cats are very smart) and she injured our groomer considerable; therefore the service fee was higher than on previous visits. You did not communicate with us back then, that you were not satisfied with our service but you posted a review a year and half later limiting us to give an explanation of the events and look for options and alternatives. As you indicated Moxie is your first cat and you might oversee certain behavior on cats due to age, not being spayed and being a pure bred. You also assume that we implied in any way a guarantee that due to our level of experience everything will go as smooth as possible. We are sincerely glad that you have found one or other places that can groom your cat. These facilities also recommend clients to us when they have issues with a cat or they don’t have time. You mentioned that we accept cash only and this is incomplete. Payment in advance with personal check. We also accept money order/cashier check or paypal."

They are a cat only boarding facility. Their pricing is not inexpensive but it’s fair. There’s one woman there and she keeps you posted on what’s going on. She also asks a lot of question before the pet is admitted there. She interviews you very thoroughly before you leave the animal there. She gives you a complete interview as far as what you want done and what you want fed and everything. The service is very personalized.

My cat was very delicate at that time.  They are definitely professional.  It's very compassionate care. They took care of all the details.  I would highly recommend them to anyone.  It is aesthetically pleasing from the outside.  They plan classical music outside.  It's a very calm soothing environment. Very well organized. The lady that I dealt with was Josie and she was phenomenal.

This is a wonderful facility.  We have been boarding cats there since the late '80s.  Josie & the rest of the staff are wonderful.  There is NO other alternative to taking care of our cats that I would consider.  They board there every holiday & vacation we take.
Living away from family & having to travel frequently, I have complete peace of mind boarding them with A Country Cat House.  The treatment they receive is first class.

Boarded my cat for three days. My cat is a beloved family member and this is the only place where I would ever board him. I
have 100% peace of mind when my cat stays at A Country Cat House. Josie and the staff at ACCH are the best! They are extremely knowledgeable and will treat your furry family member with the same care as if he/she were a member of their own family.

Gambie, my Rag Doll cat, loves The Country Cat House.  I have used them for boarding at least 2 or 3 times a year for the past 3 years.  I previously had used my veterinary to board him but found when I brought him home he was traumatized.  He would sit for hours crouched and not move.  I think the constant barking of the dogs and the tiny cage used for him made the whole experience unpleasant for him.  I decided to find a place more suitable and found The Country Cat House in my Craig's List magazine.  I called and asked to inspect the facilities prior to his first boarding.  Josie, the manager, gave me the tour and I was pleased.  Gambie gets excellent care when boarded there.  They watch his diet and also look for any symptoms of illness. Josie knows and understands cats.  Every time I take a trip I can relax and not worry about his care.  Thank you, Country Cat House!

I have used A Country Cat House on a number of occasion in the past. I had a cat that had kidney disease and this boarding facility always took excellent care of my cat, even when she became old in later years. I was taken on a tour of the facility first, just to ease my mind. There was soft, classical music playing and the cats were looking out over a garden area that had plants and birds. The cats are bathed when they first come to the facility. You can bring your own cat food or they will provide the food. My cat was cared for there for many years, until she died in May 2012. A new young cat has now "adopted" us and I will be utilizing A Country Cat House very soon.

We have brought our cat to A Country Cat House for almost 20 years. We travel extensively and use their services about six times a year. They are wonderful! Our cat is not easy, but they have worked with great success to win his confidence and adjust to his ways. During all that time we have dealt with the same person - Josie, who is warm, professional and nurturing of both cats and owners. The Country Cat House's single focus - only cats - and the continuity of staff are key to their success. Cats have spacious individual "condos," can look out onto fish ponds and horses, and have scheduled playtime, all with classical music in the background. The staff are accommodating about special needs - medication and feeding, and respond to challenges with gusto. I am confident when we are away that they could deal with any emergency.
A Country Cat House has my highest commendation. We are so lucky to have them.

As Abbeye is an older cat, my concerns were how she can be groomed without causing her any anxiety. My fears were put to rest. The extra care and love that she was given to her and Amber were beyond my expectations. The boarding was much better than I expected. My cats were bathed and groomed upon my arrival to take them home. My cats were always ready at the the time promised.

I have taken several cats over the years to a Country Cat House always leaving knowing that they would be cared for in a most excellent manner. They are the sole focus of Miss Josie and her staff. THey are fed, played with and go to sleep at the same times every day so they what to expect and are not nervous about their routines. THey are kept not in cages, but in cat condos nicer than what they probably have at home. THey are taken out of their condos several times in the day (if they want ) and play, get brushed and cuddled. I have never picked up a cat that was freaked out or lethargic. Friends who travel often tell me that their cats look forward to going to see Miss Josie. I highly recommend her and a Country Cat House.

From day one Josie was very nice and responsive to all my inquiries. If I had any reservations about leaving my with them, they disappeared the day I met Josie in person. We left our cat under Josie's care for a week. Whe we picked up our cat, she was in great shape and very happy. I feel really good about the descision to leave our cat with Josie and will doing again whitout any hesitation. AAA+ to Josie and her staff.

Initially Oliver was not happy but he finally became accustomed to his "new look."  I thought he looked adorable.
In addition I've had other pets stay at The Country Cat House over the last 20 years.  First of all it is spectacularly clean...there is not only no "pet" odor, there is no disinfectant odor either.  Don't know how they manage it....but they do.  Quite a marvelous place to take your pets...as you leave you can be assured they will get quality care and love.

Just as in the past I arranged for my cat Dylan's stay via email. I had prompt replies with suggested times for pick up and drop off. I had already sent immunization updates. (email, fax or hard mail work.) Once again Josie was prompt and organized and taking notes of his current condition and of our contact information.

Prior to boarding my cat I was able to meet the manager Josie and the rest of the staff, Manuel and Myriam. They are such warm, wonderful people and you can tell they love what they do and that they treat the cats under their care as if they were their own. I had such peace of mind leaving my beloved cat in their care. I highly recommend A Country Cat House to anyone who lives in Fl and they even offer spa services for your cat. In fact if you're traveling from another state to take advantage of the many cruises in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area don't worry about having to leave your cat at home; bring them along and treat them to their own vacation at A Country Cat House.

I boarded my 2 cats here while traveling. Absolutely lovely place. Prior to choosing this boarding facility I inspected 3 other kennels.By far this was the best choice. It is clean, professional and all about cats. It's a spa for kitties. It was well worth the drive and money as I never gave leaving my cats in their care a second thought. I will definitely use them again.

During our trip to A Country Cat House the zippers on Tiger's new carrier proved to be no match for his nose and agile paws. He opened them from the inside several times and managed to get out. After several stops we arrived at the driveway a few minutes late. The manager, Josie, noticed that my car was parked there too long. She came out, saw me in a losing struggle to put Tiger back into his carrier, and kindly provided the needed extra hands. Tiger later went home in a new carrier. The zippered one is now being enjoyed by a Schitzu with less dextrous paws. Tiger had been pre-registered, and I'd already had a tour of the clean and attractive facility with its spacious kennels and play area. Josie knew from her experience that it was better that she be the one to place Tiger in his "condo." While I was in the hospital and the rehab center, Josie kept in touch with me to let me know how well Tiger was doing. She was caring and patient about my second hospitalization and delayed discharge. When someone drove me to pick Tiger up, he was already in his new carrier, clean, bright-eyed, and sweet-smelling from his recent bath and grooming. When he got home, he went right to the kitchen and his dish. His resuming his regular life so quickly was a clear sign to me that his being away from home for over a month had not been traumatic, but that he'd had a good experience. A friend of mine who has two cats of her own toured the Country Cat House while Tiger was there. One of them, which is primarily her husband's, is old and in delicate health; he had always insisted on boarding the cats at their vet's so he'd be right there in case of emergency. She loved the place, and soon took her husband to see it, telling him, "I want them to have FUN!" . It was assuring to them that the staff took sick cats to the animals' own veterinarians in case of illness. This couple, who are frequent travelers, now leave their two cats in one of the two-story condos at A Country Cat House every time they go on a cruise or other trip.

Our Miss Kitty has been going to the Country Cathouse for her vacations for almost four years and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Josie and the entire staff. Kitty obviously is very comfortable there as she does not get upset or nervous when she arrives for check-in. One of the main reasons we originally selected the Country Cathouse is that each day every kitty has some "free" time out of their cat condo which is important to us since Miss Kitty spends a lot of time outside in our yard. Another reason is that, although I love dogs, Miss Kitty can do without them and there are no dogs allowed to stay at the Country Cathouse. If you are looking for a great place to board your cat where you will not ever have to worry about them this is it!

All 6 of my cats receive their grooming here. Josie and the staff are very personable, dependable, patient and kind to the kitties. One of my cats needs a tablet before grooming as she must be shaved on her tummy and behind due to having longer hair. As she was feral, she does not allow brushing there and if not shaved will become very matted. For over a year, Manny (a staff member there) would meet me early to take the kitty and they would give her the pill. We have advanced to where I can do it myself now, but it is only because the kitty got used to it with them first. The kitty is getting much better with grooming as they are very kind and patient with her. We are now down to about half a pill. The facility is very clean and tidy, with a nice entrance, plenty of room to sit for clients with their various carriers, and nice music playing to calm the cats and their guardians. As they specialize only in cats there is no loud barking from dogs to make the cats nervous as there are at the larger vet boarding or big box pet store facilities. This does make a difference and one can see it when your cat stays there for a visit vs. one of the other types of facilities. There is something to be said for a "niche" market at times. Josie is very fast at checking clients in/out in order that there are not long waiting times. However, if one has a question or special needs, she will ensure there is time to for the discussion. I have had no issues, even if needing to change appointments, etc. at the last minute. They do their best to accommodate the client, having a high standard of customer service and are very reasonably priced. They also use high quality cat food, unless you bring in your own food. Myself and my cats love Joise and the team at The Country Cathouse. I would highly recommend The Country Cathouse and wish their were other facilities that specialize in this manner across the country.

Excellent. Josie, the woman who runs it, provides a very warm, caring description of the services they provide. You can tell she really cares for animals. She leaves no stone unturned, describing everything to you (how they'll care for them). The cats have their own special places. She said every day they take them out of their cages and play with them. They give them quality time, and they play with each other. When I picked up the cats, they were well-fed and nicely groomed. They looked quite fat and healthy.
