About us

We offer musical instruction, sales, rentals and repairs on the violin, viola, cello, upright bass, electric bass and guitar instruments. Upright bass rentals require a weekly lesson. All instruments rented are of high quality with either aged wood, hand-carved, or a vintage year. Instructors of Miami String, LLC. are qualified with over 20 years of orchestral experience and are approved to teach students at Miami Country Day School, Gulliver Academy, Gulliver Preparatory School, and Westminster Christian School. Miami String is committed to providing exceptional music services. When a client cancels or reschedules without giving enough notice, they prevent another client from receiving services or instruction. Services must be scheduled with the flexibility of 30 +/- minutes before or after the appointment time, to allow for unexpected travel time. Please contact us at (305) 302-6193 by 2:00 p.m. on the day prior to your scheduled appointment to notify us of any changes or cancellations. If prior notification is not given, you will be charged the full cost of the services from the missed appointment.

I decided to get a new cello I did research online but was not comfortable buying mail order. Luckily, I found Miami String!! From the first call with Charlie and Katrina, I knew this was a special place and special people. They are both very passionate and knowledgeable at what they do. Miami String shop was awesome, great inventor and just an overall good feeling. They had every level of cellos, even rentals. I was very impressed, they took the time to explain everything, point out pros and cons of each cello. Charlie showed me many cellos and even researched a couple of things for me. Katrina gave me some history on some of the cellos. They had the patience and knowledge to help me find my cello. Never rushed or pushed just made recommendations. The Luthier gave me some tips as well and adjusted the cello to make it comfortable to play. Miami String impressed me in many ways. I give them the highest recommendation I can. If you are looking for a string instrument my recommendation is to go to the best place in S. Florida “Miami String”.

Charley ordered the blank adjustable bridge for my son's bass.  He then custom sculpted the the ridge line of the bridge to accommodate the playing style and pressure of my son's fret hand.  He installed the bridge and worked with my son to fine tune the bridge to match my son's technique.
He did an excellent job with this process.  The bridge works perfectly.

Mr. Winters is a highly accomplished musician and an excellent music teacher. Last year,my ten year old daughter wanted to learn to play violin. No one in my family has much experience with music and Mr. Winters was, and continues to be very patient with her and helps her through all the intricacies. He is also very knowledgeable and skilled in acquiring, repairing and maintaining good quality instruments and can help you a lot with making reasonable choices. My daughter has come a long way in less than an year and continues to make progress ! She can now play some really complex pieces and is member of her school orchestra , performs in public,  continues to love music and commits to learning even more! Thanks to Mr. Winters , hopefully she will continue to grow musically :)

Charley has been an excellent tutor.  Not only has he taught my son the operations of the bass, but his knowledge of music theory as well.  He has given him a very complete comprehension and application of music theory.   He has made it fun, yet challenging, for my son.  I think the results speak for themselves, my son was chosen to be a participant of the Florida Music Educators Assoc. All State Middle School String Orchestra for two years running.  He was one of eight chosen out of a pool of three hundred candidates.
I highly recommend Charley as a music tutor for your child!
