I set an appointment with Amid on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 1pm for what I though would be an estimate for a kitchen sink to be installed. He was about 15 minutes late, but that's on time for Miami standards. Understanding Amid was very difficult. His English is horrible. And I found out he's from Morocco, not Amsterdam. I only mention this because he mentions he's from Amsterdam in his profile on Angie's List, and that is not true! When he arrived here, he was ready to work. I had to ask him what he was going to charge me because this was NEVER established. I should have known from the price he gave me ($140.00) that there was going to issues. I wish I trusted my gut instinct. He was here for 7 hours to install a kitchen sink. He never read the instructions provided with the new sink, nor used the template provided to measure the new sink's dimensions. I could see he was struggling, but he ensured me that he knew what he was doing and was experienced and told me he was an engineer. He didn't ask me for any towels or a bucket for the water that was all over the cabinet, and floors. He was a mess! He also told me he works on yachts, he had a taxi business in Amsterdam. I don't know why he told me that, but I thought it was odd. The new sink was much deeper than the old one (the old one was 3 inches, the new one is 10 inches) and slightly larger so he had to cut into the tile counter top. This was after attempting to make the new sink fit into the counter top. You can't fit a square peg into a round hole, and that's what he tried to do. Once he cut into the sink and got it to fit, he tried to tell me that I didn't need a garbage disposal because HE didn't have one. I told him I NEED one because I have a dishwasher and I WANT one. I should have said, "The customer is always right, so install it." Come to find out, I don't think he knew how to connect my garbage disposal. Instead, he said it was old, and I needed a new one. It worked just fine before he removed it, so that was a load of bologna. He made a trip to Home Depot to buy a part to connect the garbage disposal and dishwasher, but I don't think he purchased all of the required parts. After he returned from Home Depot (and because I am a decent human being) I offered him a cup of coffee, which he let stand for enough time for the coffee to get cold. He then told me that the coffee was "not good." It was cold, but again, I thought this was a language barrier. I warmed the coffee up in the microwave to shut him up. I showed him other remodeling items and repairs I need done through out my home. I had tenants in my home who destroyed my property. One of those items was a tempered glass bathroom sink. I put silicone in the sink so that I can use it, until I can do my remodel. He told me "this sink is ugly." So that was the second time he insulted me. My dining room light was broken by my former tenants, so I put a swag cheap light up as a temp fix. He told me that was ugly. That's insult #3. I was fed up at this point and he had been here for 6+ hours. He convinced me that I needed a new garbage disposal and that he would come back on Monday to install it. Before he left, I noticed that there was a leak from pipes under the sink. I got the impression he didn't like me pointing out this, but he tightened the pipes, and there was not any more leaks, from that pipe. When he left, I inspected the work a bit more, and noticed he didn't connect the dishwasher drain pipe. He didn't tighten the connection, at all. He came back up to my condo (I caught him before he drove away) and tried to connect it. He first cut the drain pipe in half. Then he asked me for a LIGHTER." He was trying to melt the plastic to connect it. He used all of the lighter fluid, so he asked me if I had another lighter, but in a forceful tone "give me a lighter." I told him, you smoke cigarettes, don't you have a lighter, or the proper equipment, since you are a plumber?" He then tried to use MATCHES to melt the pipe and then threw the matches in my trash can! When I saw that, I told him that he had to leave. He then told me that I was "PARANOID." I have never been so insulted! The price in the end was $180.00. I tipped him $40.00, so for $220.00 I still do not have a kitchen sink properly connected. The soap dispenser was propped up against a pipe under the sink. And I can not move the hot and cold water valves because the sink is too deep! I have hired a plumber from Total Appliance to fix all of his janky work. This guy is a JOKE and please never, ever hire him.
