We have been customers of this company for four years. We have only experienced professionalism, politeness and friendliness. They know what they are doing with pools and have helped us many times with ours!
We will continue to use this company as long as we have a pool!!!
On February 8, 2012 the owner of Swim n Save, Mike Tolnay Jr., sold me a new Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pool pump which was installed by his son David. The bill for the pump and installation was $1139.00. Although my old pump was still working, I purchased the new pump because it was a more energy efficient system. I used Swim n Save for the purchase and installation because they were listed on Angies List with two good reviews and were only 13.6 miles from my home according to Google maps. As I said in my review after the installation, all went well. My old single speed pump was on a traditional timer set up with my Aqua Rite salt chlorine generator system. Since the new pump has its own internal timer system Dave simply moved the wires from the old timer system and connected them to the new pump and Aqua Rite Control with power on to provide chlorine to the pool whenever the pump was running. The system was all working. Several weeks later the printed circuit board (PCB) went out on the Aqua Rite Control panel. I purchased a new panel just like the old one and was reading the installation manual which stated “It is very important that the Aqua Rite is powered only when the pump is running”. The manual showed a wiring diagram for the Pentair pump Intellitouch panel to the Aqua Rite Control panel. I called Swim n Save and talked with Mike Tolnay Jr. and asked him if Dave could come by and look at wiring diagram and see what needed to be done so that the new Pintair pump I purchased from him would communicate with the Aqua Rite Chlorine System. Mr. Tolnay then (raising his voice) said, “Are you saying that we burned out the printed circuit board?”. I said, “No, I am not saying that; I have already purchased a new Aqua Rite Control box and just want Dave to stop by and look at the wiring diagram and tell me what needs to be done to have it work with the new pump that you just installed”. Mr. Tolnay, now screaming into the phone, said that they were too busy with new customers to come by and look at the wiring diagram. I said, “what about serving a customer that just spent over eleven hundred dollars with him and it would only take ten minutes”. He then went on yelling in the phone that he had too much work on the books to revisit my installation. I reminded him that I found his company on Angies List and would inform them of his poor customer service. Still screaming, he said “I don’t care who or what list you contact”. I have so much work I have to farm work out to my competitors and then he hung up on me. I then called the tec support at both Aqua Rite and Pintair and found out what I need for the new pump to communicate with my Aqua Rite salt chlorine system. Plus, I talked to another local pool repair company who told me what I need to do…..and did not charge me a penny. Please do not recommend Swim n Save to any of your members. I have never in all my years dealt with anyone in business that was as rude and unprofessional as Mr. Tolnay.
"All I can say about this customer review is, his salt generator circuit board was burnt out by him messing with it prior to the new pump installation. When we installed the pump we told him it was burnt out and he told us that it was like that for awhile, it was giving him false readings so he tried to fix it, he then said he had a plan to get it fixed. He told my son David to call Pentair the mfg. of the new pump and tell them that there was a problem with the new pump and that it burned out the circuit board on the salt generator. He said that they are a huge company and what's a few bucks to them. David said he could not do that and David called me at the store, I told David to put the customer on the phone, I told the customer that I could not lie to the mfg. he got mad and handed the phone to David. I asked David if the job was done and if everything that we had done was working alright and were we paid for the work, he said yes, everything was working fine except for the salt generator. David left and that was that. A week later the customer calls me, tells me that he talked to a pinch a penny pool store in his area and they said for him to call pentair and tell them that Swim N Save Pools installed the pump improperly and that we burnt out the circuit board, Pentair will send a new board and charge it back to Swim N Save Pools, that's the way to get back at Swim N Save Pools for not helping out. I got angry and told him to do it and when I get off the phone I was going to call Pentair and advise them of the situation and I hoped he would get arrested for fraud. He then got really angry and said he is going to do everything in his power to see our company lose as many customers as possible. He then started to rattle off all of the social media sites, I told him do what you must but when you die and stand in front of your maker you will have to explain why you did what you did to others. I on the other hand will have no problem standing in front of my maker and saying I did my best and I helped as many as I could, I did not lie, cheat or steal from anyone. With that he called me a few curse words and I had enough so I hung up, he tried calling back about 3 times but I did not answer the phone, I have caller ID. In closing I wish all of my customers were on angie's list then people could really see our true rating."
