My wife and I purchased a house built in 1978 when we moved to Merritt Island. We knew that the garage had to be repaired because the previous owner had cut the trusses holding up the roof to make a bedroom out of 1/3 of it. I called Brevard county Building department for references. They gave me several. Macik was among them. Some that I contacted also referred me to Jeff Macik. We contacted Macik and was impressed with the knowledge and honesty of Jeff and his son, Joe, who own and run the business. We also decided that the old very poorly constructed closed in “porch” had to go because we had hurricane damage and roof leaks in it. Jeff and Joe were very patient with my wife and I while going through the process to get a major project (complete new bedroom and bath addition along with total garage repair) to contract that was acceptable to all. We did not know how good our decision was to use them until the construction started. They were great. Very concerned about cleanliness, disturbing of our living here while under construction and just making us feel like family with the helpful polite full time help that they employ to do most of the work. Cindy and I have built multiple houses and remodeled some as well. I can say without a doubt, Macik was the best builder we have ever worked with. They were on time, kept to schedule, got us through holidays and medical issues with no problems and were fair and honest. They have some of the best subcontractors because they have vetted them over the past 20 years. I wish them the very best of luck and hope that this letter helps get them additional business that they have earned.

The project was awesome right from the start .they came up with ideas no one else did. Out of the box thinking . Their employees were great very friendly and artistic . Every one of them exhibited great pride in what they were doing . They were constantly consulting us about every phase to be certain they were doing what we wanted. Adapting our ideas and theirs to give us and outstanding result . We recommend them to every one and intend on employing them again on our next project .

The entire job took six months and it was extensive. The structural portions of this job went well. It was not until the job began to wind down that quality, integrity and knowledge became an issue. All kitchen and bath cabinets were installed in haste. The toe kicks on all but one cabinet did not match and one bathroom had none at all. Kitchen cabinets had distress marks, puncture dots, cracks or black smudges. Pocket Door latches were chiseled and left unpainted. A pencil was used to shim the track of a pocket door. The bar with a 2.5 X 6 ft piece of granite on top was never properly supported from the floor. A support was built but it never connected to the bar cabinets. Electrical work was not done by an electrician nor the plumbing by a plumber. A licensed electrician was interviewed for this job shortly after entering the contract, but due to cost, he was not hired. Our double wall oven install lacked base support and was improperly wired. I had the contractor return to re-do the oven installation. At the same time they also had to make a repair to the cabinet housing the oven, which was splitting due to stress. This was a perfect opportunity for the contractor to fix the wiring issue but they did not address it. The second attempt was also incorrect. The lower oven door was rubbing on the bottom trim piece. The oven was not level. You could see the jagged edge of the cabinet cut out along the top of the oven. I decided to have an appliance contractor come out and attempt to install the double oven properly. When it was taken out of the cabinet housing, we discovered the wiring to the oven was an even bigger problem. The same electrician who had been interviewed but not hired was called in to fix the wiring. The oven was left a 3 wire when the they were supposed to bring ALL electrical up to code, which should have made the oven a 4 wire. Nothing about the wiring of this oven was correct, would NOT have passed code. You do not have to be a professional trade to notice shoddy work. Due to the lack of care factor displayed when my job came to an end, I did not wish to have the contractor return to fix any issues I came across. I have since, hired other contractors, licensed in the trade for which each project correction required. I have given Mr. Macik in writing and pictures, a detailed note expressing my disappointment in how this job closed and brought him up to date on what has been done to correct the original remodel, mistakes, He has made no attempt to reply to my email.

When I read your review, it was the first time I’d heard that you had issues with the remodel that had not been addressed. I spoke with our contractor, and he said he did receive an email from you listing your concerns/complaints on November 23, 2015 at 8:59PM. Although, he was investigating your complaints he did neglect to respond to you in a timely manner, for which you have our most sincere apology. I wish you had copied me (as the office manager) with your email, as was your traditional practice. I would have made sure your issues were addressed in a timely manner and kept you informed of all progress and of our communications with the other contractors and trades people you employed to help resolve your issues. Usually, when our customers need something addressed they typically call the office or send an email to the office (not just one person, Jeff). Jeff, although very talented and detailed in his approach and knowledge of the construction process, is not strong on administrative tasks like following up on emails. In your email you instructed him not to call you, but that he should only respond via email. He simply neglected to respond to your email. Since as of now, your concerns and complaints have been resolved by others, Jeff has offered to review their invoices and to compensate you monetarily. We have yet to hear from you. In closing, it has always been very important to all of us at Macik Builders that our customers be completely satisfied with their experience with our company and with their completed project as a whole. Sometimes, we do fall short of our customers’ expectations, but we have always taken care of any warranty issues that have come to our attention in a timely manner. It was never our intention to disrespect your complaint by delaying a well-deserved response to your email. Business owner spent over an hour with us reviewing the structural condition of the town home and identified costs associated with performing a renovation, which required removing a load-bearing wall, installing a structural beam, and widening the opening for an exterior door. Owner also identified problems with East wall of town home that could have structural implications. In the end, we decided not to go through with the property because of these issues.

This was a major project that took about 5 months to complete from beginning to end. Jeff and Joni Macik the owners were a pleasure to work with. They helped us with great ideas and in-put. Jeff came up with a design that really worked for us. We had planned to possibly give up a bedroom to accomplish what we wanted to do. Jeff was able to engineer what we wanted with out giving up the extra room. The crew they have are really great guys and very professional. Any time I would ask about something they were quick to make it clear, this "is your house and we will do what you want done." I preferred to purchase a lot of the plumbing fixtures etc and that worked fine, we received credit for the allowance in the contract. I would highly recommend them and would use them again. We only had 3 change orders and we knew exacting what the cost and details were in advance. Thank you Jeff and Joni and staff, you were professional and great to work with.

First, this review is way overdue. Macik did wonderful job for us and I would definitely use them again. We had literally just closed on our house and saw their office as we were leaving the closing. We stopped in just before 5pm. and Joni and Jeff talked with us for about an hour about what we wanted to get done with the house. Jeff came out the next day to walk through so he could prepare and estimate. They were upfront about the turn around time on their estimate and that it would take about 3 weeks. They also told us that they had a big job ahead of ours, so it could be a few more weeks before they could get started. I appreciated the honesty. As it turned out, that job got delayed, so they started on our house immediately. Andy was our foreman and he was there most every day. He did a great job overseeing all the projects. Jeff is a perfectionist, and he made sure every detail was done to his standard. Laurie is an excellent designer. She and Joni made the whole process of choosing cabinets, fixtures, colors, flooring, etc a breeze. This is a quality company and we are completely happy with all the work they did for us.

Our kitchen renovations were completed recently and we are satisfied beyond our highest expectations. Jeff and Joni Macik offered their creative ideas about renovation plans, materials, resources and colors. The Macik skilled workmen were terrific - thorough, attentive and they arrived with a smile each day. Their skills are superior to other workmen that have been in our home. Jeff Macik,his wife, and his estimator worked with me on design and gave me ideas I had not considered. Jeff has his own staff of five so there was someone at the job every day. Jeff stayed in contact with me regularly and was available each time I called him.
Jeff paid attention to every detail in my place as if it was his own home. I am not exaggerating. Jeff is fully knowledgable about carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and air conditioning, as well as flooring and painting. His subs were fantastic, giving me the highest quality of work.

He does a lot of renovation and repair work. They were first rate. Their prices were good. Their service and our satisfaction were just top of the line. It was really excellent. They did a lot of renovation work. When I have a project or repair that I need done, I call them. They do everything from handyman services to fairly major renovations. They come out and they do what they give in their estimate. They do it right. They are very good.
