Custom Garden Design by Lois

It is a pleasure to recommend “Custom Garden Design” and owner Lois M. Harris to Angie’s List.  Since moving from Miami to Central Florida two years ago I have not had much luck landscaping my yard. I bought many plants from various sources and put them here & there around the property with no real design in mind.  Some plants lived, but most died.  Admittedly, I have no experience in gardening but wanted to have an attractive yard, appropriate for the climate.

Lois Harris was suggested by an acquaintance and when I checked her references, they were stellar. Lois came to my home and we discussed possible designs and plants. I explained that my budget would only permit tackling one area at a time.  She took measurements and checked for sun, shade, and irrigation. Several days later she called and returned with a comprehensive plan, complete with a detailed architectural-size drawing.

First on my list was the front yard.  Lois made an appointment and we met at South Seminole Nursery early in the morning to pick out the plants. Lois kept me fully engaged with selection. I was unfamiliar with most plants and Lois was completely amenable to suitable substitutions.  Lois had scheduled delivery of the mulch & soil to coincide with our arrival home. Lois sculpted the planting area with her brother as assistant.

I was especially happy that Lois utilized some of my existing plants into the design. Extra plants that did not fit were carefully transplanted in my backyard. Upon completion of the work, everything was cleaned as if they were never there that day   It has been about a month since my yard was planted and ALL the new plants have their heads up and thriving.  I hope to move on to my back yard shortly.  Without reservation I recommend “Custom Garden Design” and Lois M. Harris.
