Sunshine State Construction

We had a very similar situation as the previous reviewer from 2019. Hired them to rebuild after a horrendous water damage loss in our home. Hired them early 2023. Horrible project management. Hires terrible and expensive subs. Several written promises of being back in our home fully completed by a specific date. Leaves mess and trash and pouts when asked to clean up. Did not meet causing us a lot of unexpected incurred expenses. As in the previous review, Jeff the owner was incredibly unprofessional! He showed up at our home screaming at us accusing us of holding back money when there had been no request for payment as the work has not been done. We were so upset because each time his wife asked for a draw we obliged even driving the checks to their home on multiple occassions. Still waiting on final inspection as it has failed at least 2 times. Today he called stating he has a good reputation and he’s not going to lose it over one customer but it looks like it’s not just one customer. I wish I saw this review before hire him. Just an awful experience I wish I never got into with them.

Signed the $27,700 contract on 1/17/18 and paid the required $2720 deposit. Job finally started on 4/20 with one person working half a day, another person working a full day and no one works on Tuesdays because that is "flat tire" day. Paid the next $8160 on 4/20 and Jeff stopped the job on 4/24 because the measurements at the house did not match the architect plans. It took Jeff two weeks before he advised me there was a problem at the site. He was unable to communicate with the architect correctly to resolve the problem. I met with the architect and had revised plans completed which Jeff did not walk through the building department, but just let them sit there for another two months. June 28 I went to the building department to check on the status and was advise that they did not know that modified plans had been submitted. I walked them through the system and got them approved. Jeff sat with my $11,00 for 5 months and only worked 3 days. Jeff turned what should have been a simple three month project into an 8 month drama with both verbal and physical abuse. His workers showed up when instructed and did good work and were respectful of me and my home. Jeff was always screaming with attitude. Job was finally completed September 28. I am sorry I ever got involved with Sunshine State Construction.
