After examination of the property they promptly forwarded a written estimate and provided verbal description of what they intended to do to solve the settling problem. The work was scheduled promptly and the workmen arrived on time. The work required 3 days.

The workmen were courteous and efficient. It was necessary to remove some shrubs from near the foundation in order to place the piers. They do not replace the shrubs after completion of the work. I did that myself. They kept me informed as to what they were doing and at the time that they jacked up the addition they monitored inside the house to assess any cracks that developed inside as a result of the movement of the foundation. Upon completion of the work they cleaned up the area. Upon their completion I hired Handywoman to complete the project by repairing the cracks that remained - both outside and inside with plaster.

On 26 March, I had certified structure and foundation come out to give me an estimate to repair foundation around my pool. I had cracking around the tile and the deck was lifting due to a small water leak. Bill from certified structure came out and looked around and discussed what they would do to repair my problem (use jacks to bring deck back up, shore and pin pile the entire deck, and then pressure grout, he explained they would have to drill holes on backside of deck about 1 inch the same size as the holes for security gate, which i was fine with). He would go back talk to his engineers and e-mail me an estimate. On 07 April, I got the estimate and it was for $3150. The estimated stated that during his inspection and probing they found very loose soil at a depth of 4 feet. This was very confusing to me seeing as how they did absolutely no probing on initial visit. On 17 April they came out to do the job and before they started I asked about the probing and why it was not done. The crew that came out was very schocked that no probing had been done. When they started the job after digging about 31/2 Feet they ran into piping. So they could not do any of the work described in the estimate. It was explained to me that if the probing was done they should have known this. instead of the jacks and pin piling the only thing they could do was pressure grout(mud-jack) the deck. I called Bill to discuss new price since we were not doing over 2/3 of what was supposed to be done. He was very reluctant at first to budge on price but when it was all done took $1000 off which was still very high price. They driled 18 holes into the deck and did the mud jacking. All holes were originally 1and quot; in diameter from drill bit and when they pulled tube out there was some overflow grout. I say this because when the job was finished and they left, the what I thought was overflow grout that I would be able to wipe up and just have the 1and quot; hole was not the case. I had some holes that were 6and quot; in diameter. No way the deck can be left in this condition. I tried to call them back but no one has returned my phone call yet. I say the price was high because the total job took less than 3 hours. They used for bags of quickrete and sand. So in materials they spent on the high side $200. That is on the high side. we all know quikrete is like $6 a bag. So the hourly rate I was charged comes out to about $600 an hour. I am all about paying a fiar price for a svc and a job well done. Here i got neither. and now I have to pay to repair the deck. This companies web page says they are the best in the business, i would sure hate to see the worst.
Response from Certified Structure & Foundation Inc

"In response to this review, I would like to state that my name is Bill Kinsel. I personally did the inspection at the l[member name removed] residence. Contrary to the statement above, I did probe the soil around the pool deck. It was by pure luck that I did not hit the 2'' plumbing that was in the ground 3-1/2 feet. The reason that some of this work could not be done is the pool plumbing line was installed directly beneath the pool deck foundation (hardly ever the case). As for the 1" holes, yes they were supposed to be 1" and they were. The pool deck finish was not properly bonded or the concrete not properly cleaned during the original coating procedure. For the materials, we did not nor do we ever use sac-krete or quick-crete unless we are pouring back a concrete patch. The time on the job is not accurate either. the process, even without the work we couldn't do, took about 5 hours. If we were able to do the entire job it would have taken a full day. As for the returned phone call, I called him back immediately and re-patched the holes the very next day."

They came in and jack the deck back up and pressure grouted underneath to fill in the voids under the deck. They did a great job repairing the problem and did it quickly, the only problem was in the clean up afterward, some of the blow out from the grout was not cleaned up well and a couple of the holes drilled in the deck were not filled in. But overall the did a good job and would recommend them.
