Car Rental – Dollar Rent A Car

We weren't happy at all.  We just needed 4 wheels and a hand jet.  I had the confirmation, I had everything and I understand that they say that particular make of car might not be available.  I get that, but it should be in the same general category.  They didn't have any of those.  If we paid additional money, we could go up, but we said that we didn't want that.  We said that we just want the car we had and they didn't have any.  They said they had rented it out.  I asked what good is the reservation if it doesn't guarantee anything.  They gave us all kinds of options and it turned out to be an extra $100, a little over $10 a day.  We got the next thing up and left.  We really felt what they did was not right.  We've been to other places where they didn't have that car and they upgraded, but they did it at their own expense.  We talked to them and we did everything.  I won't ever rent from them again.  In fact, an opportunity has come up since then and I told the people making the reservation anything, but Dollar, I won't do it.  I just wasn't happy at all.  I rented it online and I think they kept their receipt, but I think that the total was supposed to be $249 or $269, but they didn't have any in that category available and the only cars that we could rent were upgrades at our expense.  It would have been about a $100 more by the time everything was added because that's what we figured.  It cost for them not having the car we wanted.  They said that they have a new policy that if we don't buy the gas from them, we had to have it within 10 miles of the airport which turned out not to be any problem for us, but we had to have the receipt to show that we had filled up the tank 10 miles.  There was another little thing.  We sort of felt like we had been ruled over and they gave us the entire insurance fair ,but we did not get any extra insurance.  They said that if there was any damage done the car would probably be in service for 3 weeks and we would have to pay for it.  We just felt like we were being scammed from beginning to end with an individual crook, but we just weren't happy with the service.  The actual car that we rented was fine.  We drove it, left it in the driveway and then we drove it back to the airport and it was fine.  We had no issues with the actual car that we got, but it was the price and the guarantee.  I won't ever rent from them again.  We were happy with the initial quote, but since the initial quote didn't work out, we would have shopped elsewhere.  The quality of the car was fine.
