They arrived within the window of time they gave me, were efficient in installing a new plug in our cabinets for the microwave. The microwave installation was delayed by a broken screw but was expertly handled by the technicians. The dishwasher install went smoothly and everything now runs.
They even went out of their way to help us with a broken plug with the range top. Would recommend these guys to anyone for installation of appliances.
the week of November 1st-7th 2015,
My Father-in-law's washing Machine malfunctioned. It was 18 months old and past
its one year warranty. He asked me to look into the problem. I visited him,
looked at the washing machine, questioned the Certified Nursing Assistants who
take care of my Mother in law and found the washing machine to continue washing
clothes cycle after cycle without stopping and the clothes sopping wet. I then
went online to ANGIE'S LIST to find a repair company to fix the appliance. I
found APPLIANCE REPAIR PRO of Melbourne, FL. I called them and made an
appointment with them for Friday November 9th between 3-5PM. I gave them the
make and model# of the washing machine while making my appointment.
The repairman arrived around 5:30PM,
not a problem as things happen and I understand falling a little behind. The
repairman tells my Father in law, "Nothing wrong with your machine. You
are using the wrong soap and you need to change the outlet the washing machine
is plugged into. You are using the machine wrong and these machines typically
have many problems. If you have a family member, switch out or trade machines
with them". My father in law paid the repairman his $88 service fee for
performing the work. I was not present during the visit.
The next day my father in law tells me what transpired and I
called APPLIANCE REPAIR PRO. I spoke to Kelly, who told me the following:
"You are using the wrong soap, you must use HE
soap" (WRONG: No where either on the machine or in the manual does it
mention using High Efficiency soap)
"The 4 Certified Nursing Assistants who do the laundry
and your father in law are doing the laundry wrong, stopping in the middle of
the cycle, forcing it to start over." (NOT TRUE,
the start button has a pause option on it)
"If you have a family member that can swap with you
please do it. These are sophisticated machines." (I did not know it was
rocket science? 4 CNAs an 85 year old and myself cannot figure out a washing
machine bought at Best Buy?)
"If you want, we have a 90 day service commitment and I
will send the repairman back out to show/teach you (4 CNAs and my father in
law) how to use the machine." (No mention of re-diagnosing or sending a
different repairman out)
I arrived at my father in laws house and saw the receipt. The
receipt was written as follows:
READ OWNERS MANUAL (I have the Manual and read it. Nothing
special or extraordinary)
change the 110 volt outlet
ran diagnostic no problems reported
Use HE detergent only.
I read the owners manual. NO WHERE ON THE MACHINE
OR THE MANUAL DOES IT SAY USE HE DETERGENT.
I had the electrician change and test the outlet the next day. We already owned
HE detergent. I ran the washing machine through cycle after cycle with HE
detergent and a brand new electrical outlet. I encountered the same exact
problem where the machine kept recycling washes. All of us at the house, 4 CNA
nurses, my father in law and myself encountered the same problem.
I believe, APPLIANCE REPAIR PRO visited my 85 year old
father in law's house at the END of the day, took his quick $88 service fee and
aveblamed everyone else. I am not sure they tested the correct make and model,
misdiagnosing the problem or the repairman just wanted to take my father in
law's money and run. I am so mad at ALL APPLIANCE PRO and I specifically
visited ANGIE'S LIST using the account I paid for to find them. I understand
there is a charge to diagnose the washing machine and visit the home. By the
way, I called Whirlpool who sent out a competent appliance repairman. They
diagnosed a bad start button, ordered the part, came back and replaced it and
it works fine.
"Thank you for your comment today. ARP values both the good and the bad reviews as we strive to be the best in the appliance repair industry. Our "A" rating with Angies List is something we have worked very hard for. Im sorry you were disappointed in our service, but in reviewing your paperwork, I do see that our flat rate of $88.00 was discussed with you when you made your appointment. In addition, you requested same day service on a Friday afternoon. We agreed to "add you on" to the schedule and kept in touch with you as a technician became available. It is our process to provide you with a complete diagnosis and the cost to repair your dishwasher. In your case you needed a new CCB and a touchpad. Our flat rate is $88.00 whether you repair the appliance or not, and if you go shopping and decide to go ahead and repair the unit, your labor is still paid for 100 days. This works well for most of our customers because 80% of them go shopping and decide it is more cost effective to repair than to replace. I hope you will give our company another try if the need should arise because we value you as a customer. Respectfully, The Pros."
"We made an appointment with Mr [Member] on Monday and a technician was sent to diagnose his problem. As it turned out Mr [Member's] warranty had expired on July 31, 2014 but luckily this was a new issue with his ice maker and had nothing to do with our previous repair. We explained to him he had a crack in his ice maker and would need a new one. Mr [Member] paid for a new ice maker but we did not charge him any labor to install it. His new ice maker was installed and as far as we know he is another satisfied customer."
I understand backorders etc., the purpose of bringing the unit to them was to streamline the technicians job to where once diagnosed all that was needed was to fix and call me to pick up. To date I have been forced to call for information SEVERAL times before getting answers. I have no doubt the unit will be fixed and no doubt it will work just fine, However, I do not appreciate having to supervise the communications...Will not use them again..
FYI Called LG's parts provider today with the Motor and pump number. Unit is readily available and not back ordered
"Thank you for your review. Our paperwork does say you brought your dishwasher to our warehouse on 4/3/2014 for repair. Let me first start by saying that even though the part may be in stock now, it was not in stock 2 weeks ago. When a customer tells us the part that is needed, we still have a tech diagnose the machine to keep from having incorrect parts ordered. Once we got your part in it was installed that Saturday, and then put into the testing bay. We try with dishwashers to run them a min of 10 times to check for leaking. I am sorry you felt our process took to long, but I am sure you will be happy with the repair of your dishwasher and our 100 day warranty."
- Found it cost too much to repair, it was better to replace dishwasher
I bought the service call via a Good Deal link on Angie's List. I knew what the problem was because it has happened before. The spring hinges on my Jenn-Aire oven have gone bad and I knew that. I called and told them the exact model number and what was wrong and how I knew it. Having done that. I expected the serviceman to bring along parts do the repair. I did expect to pay for parts and any extra time involved. What actually happened was he came and inspected and told me what was wrong. Since I already knew that ... I feel I totally wasted my $59 ... I gained nothing by his visit. I called and complained and they told me this is always just a diagnostic visit. Normally they would now order parts and come back for an actual repair ... with additional payment, of course.
They were good about calling and about showing up on time..
"Thank you for the review on Angies List. It is true you did call us on Thursday afternoon for your service call on Saturday and give us the information to order your parts, however, after many years of experience, we do not order customer parts based on customer information. Even though [member name removed] is probably correct, we have found that 98% of our customers are wrong in their diagnosis and therefore we would be ordering a lot of incorrect parts. That being said, it is our policy to diagnose a problem, repair it if we have the part on the truck, or order the part when necessary. I apologize for any misunderstanding, but [member name removed] also thought he had purchased my tech for 2 hours to perform a laundry list of repairs in his home including electrically issues and that was not the case. We wish [member name removed] the best of luck with his range and I hope he finds resolution."
When we went to use the oven, noticed the bottom plate curved up from the heat. Apparently the screw that was put back was not secure and it popped out. I tried to put it back in but it was clearly not going to be so simple. Scheduled for a return visit another day. Repairman showed up as scheduled and it took a bit he finally got it.
Overall the work got done, fair price, very nice technician. It was just the lateness of the second appointment + the missing screw to make it worse that had us leave a less than perfect rating.
"Thank you for your review [member name removed]. We take our time windows very seriously, but occasional our Techs do get hung up at a previous call. Im glad he called ahead to tell you he would be late. Thank you for being so understanding and knowing that we stay until we get the job right. Thank you again for the review and please call us again for all of your appliance repair needs."
"Thank you (removed member name) for your kind comment, we strive to provide excellent service to our customers. It is our pleasure to repair your appliances, please call on us again. Kelly"
"Thank you [member name removed] for the review. Dryer vent clogs are a serious problem in Florida, so we always take the time to educate our homeowners. It is our goal to prevent as many dryer vent fires as possible by being proactive about cleaning your dryer vent instead of reactive. We are the only company we know of that takes off the front and back of the dryer and cleans all of the belts and thermostats of lint. Then we send a professional snake up your dryer vent that sucks and blows the lent out of your vent. Then we go on the roof and send the snake down the vent. After we clean your vent hood we spray a disinfectant into your vent to deodorize it and kill any mites that might be living in it. Once again, thank you for the comment and please call us again for all of your home appliance needs."
