About us
A & E Auto Upholstery was started in 1962 by Lou Hayes and his son, Donald Hayes. In 1972, following ten years of successful projects, they purchased property and built their current shop. In the early years, A & E Auto Upholstery serviced nearly all the dealers in the Melbourne area. As time went on the growth continued. In 1984, following the retirement of Lou Hayes, Frank Boroff came to A & E Auto Upholstery. He brought with him the knowledge and experience in canvas, which initiated the canvas portion of the business. In 2000, Donnie Hayes, the son of Donald Hayes came on board to learn the trade, ensuring the legacy continues. In March Of 2011 Charles Perkins introduced the art of Canvas Awnings.
