WARNING! Buyer beware!!!! DO NOT PUCHASE SOLAR THROUGH SOLAR ADVANTAGE!!!! It has been an absolute nightmare working with them. We spent $33k and were promised amazing customer service. The salesman lied to us about a lot of things, and their best response was "well, he was fired." They ignored us for 6 months following the install, and when they finally came out they said half of the system shorted immediately on install and never worked. We called them every month to tell them that there was a problem with the system, and every month they told us we were wrong. That was February. It took them from July to February to fix the system. They reimbursed us $200 for the loss in power bills based on their estimate, not based on the actual power bills. They probably owed us much more. Well, we just realized with all the rain that they caused significant damage resulting in water damage. They inappropriately used my lanai to get to the roof since they didn't bring a tall enough ladder. This pulled the lanai from the wall, allowing water to get in the wall. We now have mold. It was well hidden so it took this year to figure out. While they were up there they also put a hole in the lanai roof and glued a dog toy to it to cover it up. On the phone the owner Martin Clewis says it's possible that they did this, but then in email completely deny it. He even sent me a Bing map pic saying it's proof. Like really? We were going to let them sample the glue yesterday but they refused to sign a receipt for insurance purposes. I am now having to go through my home owners insurance and will have to pay a deductible. My house was built in 2012, no one else has been on my roof, no other work has been done. The sales manager Jason Humphrey says his guys say they were never on my roof, and their word is proof. My husband watched the install and gave them permission to use the roof. We have a very tall house and they did not bring a tall enough ladder for a portion of the project. They had a tall enough ladder during other portions, so they sent a picture of that as proof with their Bing picture. None of this is substantial proof that they did not cause damage. There is literally no chance that anything else caused this since no one else had been up there. They really pushed the Bing satellite picture, but that really proves nothing. It just looks white on the lanai, the lanai is dirty and has beams that you cannot see in the Bing picture. If you cannot see the dirt or the beams, you will absolutely not see a sun bleached small dog toy glued to the lanai roof. Avoid Solar Advantage at all costs!!!!!!!

John and his team were great. I had a house closing riding on this and he went out of his way to ensure that I didn't miss my closing - in spite of numerous days of bad weather at the last minute. Very responsive.

This project went very well. The installation was professional and very well done. The only issue was with the Hillsborough County building inspector. He was extremely unprofessional with us and the contractor. Eventually, after days of extra and unnecessary work (demanded by the inspector) and apparent intentional delays by the inspector, he finally admitted being WRONG and Solar Advantage was RIGHT. This caused additional cost and aggravation which was NO fault of Solar Advantage. Solar Advantage handled the situation very well. The system is cranking out power now and should lower our bills by 75-80%.

"It was great to work with you. Your house looks great with the solar panels -- we selected it for use on our new website as an example of solar on a tile roof that looks great even on the front of the house."

If you are in Orlando, and your Utility service is OUC, make sure you spend some time familiarizing with OUC's requirements and options.  There are a lot of great programs out there from Grants, to special financing rates, to leasing options.  Also, be prepared to be patient with the Orlando City inspectors.  You could tell that Solar wasn't their thing yet, and it showed in the inspection results.   Yes, you can have free electricity, and yes you can get paid for the electricity your solar panels produce, it can happen, with the right sized system, even in July in Florida!

Response from Solar Advantage
"I really appreciate your prayers, kindness all the input your gave us and for the way you have represented us to our Orlando area customers. You had a lot of great design ideas and questions going into it. I think you ended up with a really amazing system using the two inverters to effectively double your solar electric secure power units in case the power goes out. You recognized the solar incentive that the Orlando Utility commission offers and you took it!"

We had a complete Solar Edge P/V system installed.  It looks great, performs to spec, and was installed timely.  Can't ask for much more than that.  Thanks Martin for the great service!
Response from Solar Advantage
"No, problem, it was great working with you and your family on solar electric system. You had a lot of great ideas that we took into account for your system design. It is always fun to work with homeowners like yourself who understand so much about solar electricity themselves."

Everything went great. They were responsive and stayed in touch during the construction process. We had a few roof installation delays due to it being a new construction project and they were extremely patient waiting to do the install. Once the roof was complete they were on site the next week for the full install. Everything went very smoothly and I am excited to be generating my own electricity. I opted for a standing seam metal roof on my house specifically for installing solar panels to it. There are no roof penetrations with this option as opposed to other roofing materials. As soon as my new pool is completed, I will have them back to install the solar water heater to heat the pool water. Everyone was very knowledgeable and great to work with.

Everything went very well ad according to plan.  Martin and his team were excellent.  The installers were professional, knowledgeable, and made us very comfortable with the process.  They completed it on schedule and did a great job.

I consider myself fortunate to have chosen Martin and his team to install my panels through the Sunsense program.
They were very attentive to my needs and went out of their way to ensure I was completely satisfied with the work.
They also worked closely with me to get the required paperwork completed correctly and on time.
I applied for $28,000.00 for 28 panels (7KW).  Duke Energy paid half of the project (upon completion and passing inspection).
I paid a total of $14,000.00 for everything (and received a 30% credit on my taxes).
The panels Martin installed cover all electricity use in the house (almost wish I had invested in an electric car).
My average monthly bill was ~183.00 but now I only pay the required maintenance cost of $10.49.
Since this fee is being taken from my original deposit I will not even need to pay that for years to come.
In fact I will be getting a check every year for the power I am selling back to Duke Energy.
I should see a full return on my investment after 5-6 years (not to mention the increased property value).
Insurance went up only 130.00/year to cover the panels and roof.
Keep in mind the panels produce no power after sundown but the amount generated during the day completely offsets the amount used at night.
You can also google earth our address [removed] and you will see them (TOO COOL!). ? ? ?

THANK YOU MARTIN!

"Good job documenting those savings for us! I really enjoyed getting to know you through the process too. You have done a good job representing us to other people in your area of Pinellas county and photos of your title roof and flat roof installation have been helpful in explaining to people the various attachment methods available to them."

I worked with Martin and Solar Advantage to install a 5KW PV solar electric system at our home.

We had previously contacted another installer, that basically said that there was too much shading to do anything on our property.

Martin leveraged his training and prior experience to come up with a layout that included 26 panels on the back and sides of our home.  The best part is that the panels are barely visible from the road.

The installers were professional, neat and on time/schedule with respect to the installation.  Martin and the rest of the installation team responded quickly to any questions or issues that we had.

Martin was also very helpful in completing the related rebate paper work.
Overall, the installation is fantastic!  After 2 months of operation, our electric bill is now $15 per month ? the minimum regulator charges.  Our home is basically a zero electric grid home now!

I highly recommend Martin and his team!

I worked with Martin from Solar Advantage. Had a 10kw system installed, everything about the process was simple, clear, and professional, with few surprises and no drama! The only thing that changed was the original plan on the placement of the panels changed a little when they were finally installed, meaning I had more panels on my higher roof than I expected and had to pay for more tree trimming as a result. But in the end it all worked out and I'm very pleased, the all-black panels look sleek and I'm generating over 50kwh on a sunny day in March.
Response from Solar Advantage
"Yes, I agree you made a good choice going with the low-profile black-on-black modules. It is a very sleek look. I am glad to hear they are producing so well. Thank you for being a great customer and for your kind review!"
