They used a composite material which enhanced the look of the deck. Designer Decks also replaced much of the rotted foundation.

I wasn't sure at the initial engagement whether this would go well or not. I had my concerns early on during the quote process. Once all that was behind us, Doug (the owner) and his team lead by Steve were actually very easy to work with. I would most definitely recommend them if you are looking for a good quality of work.

Excellent experience, and they didn’t mind us doing the demo or asking to forego the rails and skirting so we could do it ourselves to save a little money. From the first call we worked with Doug who was responsive and patient with having to wait for our pool construction to be completed prior to the build. Doug and his crew were punctual every day, worked hard every minute, paid attention to little details asking me for my preference when there were choices to be made, and were friendly and a pleasure to work with.

We have nothing but PRAISE for Doug and his team, as they did an awesome job replacing our deck. His quoted price was more than reasonable. As always after removing the old rotted deck, other issues became apparent and required additional work and replacement but they did the extra work at a fair price. What impressed us most is their ability to solve problems quickly and their attention to detail was beyond what we expected. They are not the fastest and that is simply because they do everything like it was their own home. So if you want a excellent price with excellent quality work that just looks so awesome, Doug and Designer Decks should be at the top of your list.

The deck they built seems to be built very well. They completed the actual 30' x 12' deck in 2 days and did a great job on the actual deck. However when they installed the aluminum cover over the deck, several of the screws "missed" the wood support underneath and left holes that leaked rain until they came back and filled the holes with caulk. They really should have replaced those aluminum panels rather than caulking them. There's really no excuse to miss the wood beam, all they needed to do was to measure the distance from the edge of the aluminum to the wood, add 3/4" and put the screw there. They would have been placing dead centered in the wood every time had they simply bothered to measure. For that reason I dropped their overall and quality ratings to a C instead of an A. I hesitantly still recommend them, however keep a watchful eye that they don't take shortcuts. If not for the quality of the rest of their work on my deck, I would probably not recommend them.

I first want to say that I got a very good recommendation for Designer Decks and Docks from my neighbor who had a seawall built. This is how I got their business card. From the beginning I felt that Doug, the Owner of Designer Decks and Docks, was the most responsive contractor throughout the bidding process. I never had to wait long for a response to a call, text or email. This was refreshing! We had to take the project through the permitting process with the Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) which was laborious to say the least. Doug tried to do our seawall and dock permit together on one permit but the EPC would not allow it. The permitting process then became more involved at which point I chose to take over. Although I did the lion share of getting the permit done I had many questions along the way and needed constant revisions to the dock plan. Doug was responsive with all of this even though he was not even 100% sure the job was his. We had not put a deposit down. He sent his also very responsive job foreman, Billy, several times to meet with me to go through things and talk through the plans for the seawall and dock. Once the project started Billy was my go to guy but Doug physically came out weekly to check on things. That told me a lot. Even when some things didn't go as planned, which usually happens in any construction project, it was handled quickly and fairly. I obviously would recommend this company.

This company is absolutely incredible. I highly recommend them. Doug was very helpful and we now have a beautiful deck. The guys who built the dec (Billy, Chris and Johnny) were prompt, clean, friendly, and professional. They were knowlagable and answered questions. They even showed up when they said they would be there!!! Look no further. This is the deck company if you are looking for a deck in the Tampa Bay Area!!!

Doug and Steve are very professional and easy to work with. In fact, Steve, who built the deck, is one of the most personable people I've met in a long time. He faced a significant challenge at the beginning of the project, which wasn't evident until the old deck was removed. However, he patiently worked through the issues and successfully resolved the problem. I am extremely pleased with the workmanship on the deck and particularly like the "picket fence" railing that surrounds the deck and the decorative gates at both ends. Truly a job well done!

Designer Decks did not disappoint! Steve (the builder) met up with me to see my old deck, take pictures, and make a note of what my needs were regarding the new deck. Doug (the owner) and I ironed out the details, I paid the deposit (20% is required), and they started working on my new deck a couple of weeks later. The deck was completed this afternoon and it looks great!! Doug answered all of my questions regarding the job, pricing, and scheduling in a timely manner and even provided "before" & "after" drawings to go along with the description of the work to be done. And Steve and his assistants were friendly, professional, and a pleasure to work with. I'm happy that I hired them to build my new deck!

I used Designer Decks to put a dock in for me.  They were here about August 14 or 15 of 2015.  It was $9000.  They scheduled it in June and didn't get around to it until August.  I had to track them down.  They started the job and they did it in like 4 days but it took them 4 months to finally start it.  The guys were very professional.  When they finished the work they damaged my yard, they didn't fix it, they kept saying they were going to come.  They left tire mark in my yard.  They were going to come with the dirt and fix it and they never did.  They left a mess, they really didn't pick up after themselves.  The guys were great, they were nice but once they were gone they weren't coming back.

It was a good service.

this was the 2nd project within a year that Wayne and his team have done for me.  Last September they installed a dock with boat lift.  Well done and was the envy of the lake.  Another neighbor is using them now for their dock.  A year later we love it and use it often.  This summer we decided to have them install a carport.  Doug was able to design and install exactly what I was looking for and we are very pleased.  We plan to use them again for another similar structure on our property.  The crew is very polite and work hard.

We searched Angie's List for deck builders. We decided to get estimates from 4 of the top rated companies and 2 additional estimates from outside sources. We contacted Designer Decks and Docks and were scheduled an estimate. From the minute we met their representative, Steve, we just knew we would be using this company. Steve took the information and that night we had a complete estimate for the job. We DID schedule all the other estimates but we were not impressed with either their estimates, their building plan (or lack of) , their speed of the estimate and/or their personal representative. All of these estimates were done in May 2015 but we were not able to begin our project immediately due to medical and family issues. When we were able to begin this project, we contacted Designer Decks and Docks and told him we completely changed the deck configuration. Doug Jones, the owner reconfigured the project and gave us an estimate within 12 hours. As soon as we received the estimate, we contacted Doug Jones again and asked when this project could be started. The terms were 20% down and the balance at completion. Within 12 more hours, there was a stack of lumber in our yard and they started that day. We were so pleased that "Steve" ( the man that came out to do the estimate ) was the foreman! The project took 3 days and  we were so impressed by the professionalism of their work. The installers were very friendly and personable all the while working in the hot sun one minute and the rain the next minute. All day long with NO breaks! When the job was complete, the owner of the company assured that we were pleased and sent us the invoice for the balance. What a GREAT experience!!!

Did a great job!  Very nice to work with.  Cleaned up extremely well at the end of the day while the project was in process.  Excellent workmanship at a fair price.  We would highly recommend Mr. Jones and his outstanding job supervisor, Billy, and their team.

I'm very happy with the way the project turned out.  The estimated time for the job was two weeks and it turned out to be right.  The design was changed a little bit along the way, but this was expected and their team was always on time and easy to work with.  This was a large job, and asked for 20% to start which I found more than fair.  I'm glad they did the job right!  If you need a wooden deck built, this is the company to use!  Thanks Doug!

Doug was very helpful and was responsive despite it being a really small repair job.  He communicated the whole process, charged a fair price and did quality work.  I would definitely use the company again.
