Great. They came on Thursday for estimate. They were here Friday morning to do the work and did a great job. Very helpful and polite. Would recommend them very highly.

The pool surfacing was completed in June 2019. The contract provided a “10 year manufactures warranty provided by Premix Marbletite”. Numerous requests have been made for the warranty document. The Company keep on saying that they will be providing the warranty. Despite numerous promises, the Company has failed to provide the warranty. Very disappointing. No reason has been provided by the company as to the reason why the document has not been provide and it is now over a year since the service was provided.
Response from Bay Area Pool Authority Inc
"Mr Kitpalani, we are sorry that you seem very frustrated about this subject, but we have exhausted our resources trying to assist you. However, we have not heard back from you at this time. We have sent you the warranty information multiple times, including in the beginning when we completed the project. We again request that you update this review to appropriately capture what happened. Please let us know if you need anything further and we thank you for your business."

The collector tank on our condo pool broke, leaving our pool closed during the middle of snowbird season. After contacting over 10 companies that either would not get a quote to us, or could not perform the repairs, we turned to Angie's List and found John with Bay Area Pool Authority. He worked us into his schedule the same day, and took only 48 hours to come up with a very reasonable quote! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND John! He was prompt, courteous, professional, and did exactly what he said he could do. Thank You Bay Area Pool Authority!

They redid my pool in 2015. They did come back and take care of things. Unfortunately I had to get a little vocal about it. The work they did, they did ok. It was warranty work. The issue has been resolved since. They did respond although it took them a while. Once they said they were going to show up they were on time. They're good guys actually. I was just a little frustrated.

They always return my calls promptly and have appeared on the job when they say they will. The pool equipment was replaced promptly and they cleaned my pool of all the debris from the tornado. The pavers look beautiful and I love the pattern they used to lay them. They arrived on time, pressure washed the decking, and laid the pavers. I am extremely happy with the service I receive from this company and highly recommend them to others.

I had two estimates for my pool, and knew right away I wanted to go with John at Bay Area Pool Authority. During the estimate, he outlined the cost, but also provided a description of what the work entails and what to expect. I wasn't planning on taking the job immediately due to travel for work, but I let him know up front my estimated timeframe and verified when I returned whether the estimate was still valid (it was). When I returned, John and I set up a timeframe for the job. It was going to start right after Labor Day, but since there was a tropical storm the week before, it pushed the date back a couple days so they could finish existing work. No problem from me at all - I pretty much expected it. John let me know the start day would push to the right two days, but it started right when he said. I was slightly surprised the owner showed up the first two days to prep the pool. To me, that shows the type of dedication and commitment that the owner (John) has to his company. He did all the prep work, and made sure it was ready for the next phase - the bond coat. The job went smoothly, from the bond coat to the final surface application. Most of the communication was via text, which actually worked best for my schedule. There were only a couple minor issues for miscommunication - I wasn't sure what the drying process was for the bond coat (24 vs 48hrs), so I ended up working a half-day when I could've worked a full day. Similar, too, for when the pool was full. Either way, it was relatively minor, and my job is flexible enough with my hours that I was able to make it up. Most of the area was cleaned up at the end of the job. I think communication for timelines could be a slight improvement, but otherwise it was fine. The only othe recommendation I have to the company is to have a written set of pool instructions for care post-resurface. The instructions I received were via text, when I figured it is standard enough to have a prinout to give to the consumer. I absolutely recommend Bay Area Pool Authority for any work you may need. The price is hard to beat, the work is top notch, and the owner seems like a great guy. I would use them again for any future work in a heart beat. Pictures: the first is the original pool (drained); the second picture includes the new tile, before the resurfacing; the third picture is of the final surface as the pool refills.

"Yes thank you for the great review. I appreciate some of the points you gave me that I need to concentrate on. Like what to expect as the pool gets done. I used to have instructions to give the to the customer. Since, now the warranty is done on line and the chemical parameters are on those papers. I think that I should get back to giving those instructions out. Thanks again."

The company came in and said that the project would take 2-3 weeks to do the job, however, it ended up taking almost 2 months. They did finish the job and it looked pretty good, with the exception of killing a significant area of grass near  the pool.

This, though, is not the real problem. Earlier this year (approximately March 2016) we started noticing some strange stains appearing on the bottom and on the one side of the pool. As it started to get a bit worse, I contacted Scott to ask him about the issue and he said that he and John would come out to look at it the following week. However, no one ever came out. Since then my wife and I have called numerous times both Scott and John, and neither will return our calls. I guess they have caller ID, so they now have our numbers identified, so I guess they have no intention to look at our problem, which should be covered under the supposed 1 year labor and 10 year surface warranty.

Therefore, if you are planning to use this company, I'd recommend going somewhere else. That is, unless you are sure you won't have any warranty issues. Additionally, there lack of responsiveness during the project was less than good. Be smart find a better contractor than this one.

Unfortunately, this means lawyer fees for me

Contacted Bay Area Pool Authority mid January regarding my pool requiring a one-time clean up. I had a technician show up on-time and assess the requirements (some green, no moving organisms though) and we agreed to a one-time clean up fee for 300$.
I was initially excited as this was around my budget. He started with an initial shock and treatment, waiting for 1 week sometimes waiting for "things to settle down". He was going to vacuum out some leaves (since i had broken screens for few weeks then fixed).
After the initial start, he mentioned my pool valve ( valve cost 90$, he charged me 180$) was bad due to a screw looking rusty, so i agreed for him to replace it (didn't think much of it), but he charged 100$ to replace (reasonable, due to plumbing etc)... In my excitement and urge to get this pool back in order I agreed to replacing that valve.

After shocking it again again (1 week since he started) then he waited almost 2 weeks before coming back out, I had to call and remind him to see when he would return... he came back and stated "we need to replace your grids now because those are broken" .... he opened the grids and left them outside in the yard just left my filter all dis-assembled. Over-quoted me on the price of grids by 150$. This pricing and scheme and initial price bought me into letting him win the bid to perform services, but I felt like he started just bait and switching.
One of the things I liked about Scott was his responsiveness, however his lack of professionalism and engagement to completing my project is what ultimately led me to hire another company. He never finished the job, to this date has not called to see when he could finish as I paid half of the services up-front CASH and never received a receipt via email as he stated (he hand wrote a receipt on a flyer... thats when I realized something wasn't up. I tried to call John Skop, however it forwards to Scott and unable to contact any one else to help resolve this with the company....
Take-Aways:
Be cautious of paper receipts as I feel this service tech performed under the company's name, but did it as a side job, hence not enough time devoted to it and no paper trail... Use at your own risk.

My husband was very upset with them because they never came when they said they would.  The pool looks nice but it has a leak.  They patched the leak but it still leaks.  They were the cheapest when we compared.  The service I am happy with.
Response from Bay Area Pool Authority Inc
"We got a average rating, which I feel should be at least a B rating. Yes the first appointment was missed but we did resurface her pool and we were on schedule every time after the first meeting. We went over and above as the customer had major leaks in the pool that had nothing to do with our work. We saved the customer over $300 to repair the leak. I dont understand why we got reated at a C. Thanks for your business."

Formerly used Pinch a Penny N. Dale Mabry, they contracted to come out bi-weekly but often missed service resulting in pool turning green fairly regularly, and blamed it on kids sometimes throwing stuff in the pool, then cancelled their contract at start of summer saying they could not keep up with pool.  Bay Area Pool took over, one $250 repair when they took over, and since then never had any issue.  Pool always bright and clear, price reasonable for service with all chemicals, brushing, and cleaning leaves.  Would recommend.
