Main Line Electrical sold me and installed a generator in June of 2007. The generator was sized to pick up my entire house. When the economy took a downturn, they spun off the maintenance to Genstar, a previous employee. Genstar maintained the generator on an annual contract. The generator worked until May of 2013, when it failed to pick up the central air conditioning unit, and would shut down. Genstar replaced parts in an attempt to get the generator working, but was unsuccessful. Genstar felt it might be the AC unit, so I called Del Air to investigate. Although the hard start capacitor was only borderline, Del Air replaced it anyway. This was the beginning of troubleshooting by Genstar for over a year. From that point on, the generator could not pick up my AC load and would shut down immediately during an outage. Genstar asked for a meeting with Del Air in September of 2014. The Del Air technician determined that the AC unit was working correctly, but was pulling more current because it was no longer new, which he deemed normal. (The AC unit is 8 years old, working perfectly, still under warranty.) The Del Air technician stated that the generator was working as it should, but that is was not powerful enough to pick up the momentary AC inrush current. He recommended upgrading the generator. I've attempted to contact Main Line Electrical about this issue. While my generator was supposed to last for 20-30 years, I will have to purchase a bigger generator, for several thousand dollars. Not only did Main Line Electrical not call me back, they have not offered to offset the additional cost. They gave Genstar a $1,000 quote for re-wiring. This is in addition to the $5,000 estimate by Genstar for the bigger generator. This is going to cost me an additional $6,000 for a generator that was not sized correctly. I will never deal with Main Line Electrical again.
