This was a big deal purchase. It was not so good. They put up the gutters and everything, but did not do the downspouts correctly. They are making big gullies at the end of the downspouts. My husband has been calling them at least once a week ever since they finished. They keep telling him they are coming the next week and they never did so we were ready to give them a real bad rating. We were not pleased with the customer service and, actually, the work. We bought more and had them do the entire house. It was not the service we were used to getting for something like that. We took advantage of the bid deal price and then paid them to do the rest of the house. We would not deal with them again, to put it that way. The price was good, if you could just get them to do the work. The big deal was a good deal. The quality of the product, itself, was good.
I contacted probably 6 different companies to get quotes. JJam was the most informative and polite company , and they always responded in a timely manner. The job was done when they said, and the workers were very friendly and neat in all of their work as well as their cleanup. I am so pleased that I recommended them to my neighbor who also had them out and was very happy with their work.
I have been in sales for over 30 years and I can't say enough good things about this company. Thank you JJam for being one of those rare, honest and reliable companies that actually cares about customer service!
I called the next day to accept the quote, and schedule the work. I was told to fax in my acceptance, and they would get back to me with an approx. installation date. Luckily, I work from a home office and have a fax machine. Their initial estimate was three weeks out. I then heard nothing for two weeks. Groywing concerned that they had not received my fax, I called. The woman with whom I spoke said they would be out on the 30th. A week later, she called to say that they would be there at 9:00.
On the 30th, the workers showed at 10 am, and parked their truck in the street blocking our driveway, and, incidentally, our trash pick up. I waited for around a half an hour for some one to come to the door to greet me, confirm the job, and ask me where they could set up. When no one came, I took matters into my own hands, and walked out to greet them-And move the trashcan in order that it could be emptied. I saw no one around, but I did see that the workers had set up in the street, and had placed most of their materials in the neighbor's lawn. Seeing no one, I moved the trashcan, and went back in to go back to work.
After about another half hour, I was alerted to the blaring of a horn from the trash truck, as they were trying to summon some one to move the truck and tools from the street in order that they could navigate it. It was then that I was first introduced to the workmen. They were friendly, but not confidence inspiring as the first thing he said is that he had a, "Rough idea" of what was supposed to happen. I chatted with them clearing up their questions, found a plug in order that they could power the saw, then came back in to work.
Soon, I received a phone call from the office stating I would have to pay more than was quoted, as the person who quoted the job failed to recognize that we had a solar pool heater whose pipes would need to be moved. I was taken by surprise, frankly. The woman apologized, but said there was nothing she could do. Here's where my confusion and shock came into play: She said that it would be more expensive, but she couldn't say how much until the job was done. She did offer to have them just not do that section, which would require another down spout, but she wouldn't make us pay for that...Two poor options.
Never having been quoted a price for a job, then told it could not be honored, I balked a bit. Finally, after two conversations, I explained that I was sorry, however the job had been offered for a price. I had accepted that price they had given me. Much like me saying I would pay them their price then telling them when they got here that I would pay them less, but I didn't know how much less until the job was done, their proposals were unacceptable. I did not hide the solar heater or its components, and the person who quoted the job should have worked it into his quotation. She put me on hold, then said that they would take care of it. Thinking the matter was settled, I worried no more about it.
Until after they left. Their fix to the situation, which I was told was extending the pipes around the gutters, was to simply wedge the gutters under the pipes. This caused the verticals pipes from the pump to the roof to be separated from the wall of the house by about 6-8 inches. Not only does this look ridiculous, it shows a general lack of pride in the finish quality of their work. I wish I could attach pictures to illustrate.
I am disappointed, and cannot recommend JJam due to their lack of customer focus (Calling a customer and trying to extort more money for a proper job while on the jobsite), and lack of concern for the proper solution to an issue. I paid them to be done with them. I now get to look forward to paying some one else to fix a problem they created when the pipes they bent to save themselves money break from the stress.
