I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Closet Factory. I initially received a detailed quote for a Murphy bed at $2,200. However, when I reached out to move forward and sign the paperwork, the price mysteriously jumped to $3,970—almost double the original quote—without any explanation. It was only after I questioned the discrepancy that I was told the initial quote was “not written correctly.” This kind of bait-and-switch pricing is completely unacceptable. Even worse, when I requested a call from a manager to discuss the issue, not one person followed up. I’ve sent emails and have yet to receive any response. This level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is shocking. If this is how Closet Factory Tampa treats potential customers, I can only imagine how they handle actual projects. I would strongly caution anyone considering working with them—there are plenty of other companies out there that will treat you with honesty and respect.

AVOID CLOSET FACTORY- -DO NOT CALL THEM, DO NOT HIRE THEM. I put out a large residential job for bids to 4 companies. I have a negative warning about only one: Closet Factory . HARD-SELL SALES PLOY - THEY DO NOT LET YOU HAVE A PAPER OR DIGITAL COPIES OF YOUR DESIGN. Jessica, my designer, required me to go through a long presentation on her laptop, where you see the computer design on a screen and you have to make decisions or changes there. It takes too much time; you will have nothing to take with you to think about; and you have to hope to have memorized it. If you want to see your design again, you have to see it on her screen during another appointment. The designer reluctantly e-mailed me photos of her computer screen only, which bordered onr ridiculous. THEY COPIED DESIGNS BY OTHER BIDDERS Jessica did not hesitate to ask (in writing via e-mail) that I provide the design drawings from one of her competitiors so she could design part of the project. I was astounded at this blatent attempt at plagerism. IF YOU DO NOT GIVE THEM THE JOB, YOU ARE IN FOR AN INSULTING , UNPLEASANT DRESSING-DOWN I was kind enough to phone each vendor/bidder who did not get the job to call and thank them for their kind efforts, including Closet Factory. Jessica launched into a most insulting rant, where, among other angry outbursts, she accused me of taking her designs and providing them to a competitor and getting them to under-bid Closet Factory. I had not done this; she had no basis for saying it; and ironically Closet Factory/Jessica is the only closet company that asked me to send competitors’ drawings so they could use them! Jessica’s behavior shows that she either forgot that she had put her request in writing, or she is simply a most angry, uprofessional person. NON-EXISTANT, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE I tried twice to call Jessia’s local manager about all of this. No manager would take my call. I stated the reason for my calls: to provide feedback on the work of his company and my designer. I left messages. Nothing. Jack Green, the newest manager, was actually there, but I was told he was “too busy to take my call.” He never called. Mr. Green and Closet Factory apparantly do not care to hear from their customers. In summary, do not ever use Closet Factory. If you do, you will have to endure a long sales presentation; you may not be given copies of your design; you may possibly be shown designs actually done by someone else; you may be subject to a nasty rant by phone if you do not hirie them; and you may have zero customer service.

Very unhappy with the service! After the initial design consult, we waited 4 weeks and no one ever got back with us. We tried contacting the company various times both through Angies list and by phone, but we never got an answer! NOT HAPPY!

Yuli did a great job listening to what I wanted and needed to store. She maximized the design to utilize all the space and now I have extra room for future items. Installation was great and I have had no issues. Yuli even came by during the installation to see how it was going which I didn't expect but did appreciate.

This project went very well. The design process took quite a bit of time and effort, but the designer (Jennifer) was patient, thorough, and helpful. The installation part went well too. There was one slight disconnect having to do with baseboards but that was quickly and satisfactorily resolved by one of the owners. The Closet Factory is top-notch.

Net net, this is a reasonably competent provider of services within a limited range:  We are happy with the fit and finish of the garage and pantry solutions but only because they are behind the closed doors of the garage and pantry.  The higher finish required for a living area installation appears to be beyond their capability in normal commercial practice (though they have some "display" installations that will take your breath away).
The good:  We have some large well built cabinets in our garages that provide capacious covered storage.  The build includes some really innovative integrated extruded handles that are some 10 feet in length (more about that later).  We expect them to be servicable for many years.  The pantry solution is simple and functional.  We replaced a custom set of cherrywood shelves with a less expensive white melamine solution from Clost Factory - we like the new ones a lot better because the dimensions are better than what they replaced.
The bad:  1.  Timeliness:  The installation of our products was well outside the commitment made at time of sale, in part because critical components were not available to the company (they sold what they did not have).  They missed the initial delivery date because they did not make timely manufacture of our cabinets.  They attempted to substitute a redesigned "split door and handle" solution to fulfill the order.  They ultimately substituted a foreign manufacturer's extruded handle to meet the original design spec (if not the handle as quoted).  Because they missed installation dates that impacted other contractors, our entire project was pushed back months (only completing in May from a scheduled from committed March and April completion dates).  Our other contractors were better able to reschedule around Closet Factory's problems than Closet Factory was:  We got pushed to the end of the line when they missed their original window.
2.  Quality:  While the garage and pantry installs are satisfactory, the higher finish game room installation we sought was unacceptable.  Materials of construction - particularly the Wilsonart solid surface - were not up to expectation in appearance.  The seller, Martha Cohen, sold the solution by presenting a high finish job completed at an estate off Ponte Vedra Boulevard.  From the chips and gaps in the Wilsonart surface to the clumsy fit of the actual cabinetry, this was below par versus comparably priced offerings from local cabinet companies.  We rejected it (although we paid the full price for the install, honoring our contract).
3.  The salesman:  Martha Cohen represents Closet Factory in our market.  In the course of making her sale to us, she also sold an us a flooring solution from a company called Advanced Coating Technologies of Orlando, FL (it is unclear if they are affiliated with the operator of the Closet Factory (franchise) in Longwood).  While the flooring proved to be a pretty high quality finish (and the installer stood behind and corrected some installation defects), the sales technique of Cohen up-selling us is dubious.  In the course of discussing our project she learned we were planning the installation with another local contracor (one of our neighbors it turns out).  She confided that we could not proceed with our chosen contractor because his firm was embroiled in numerous lawsuits throughout Jacksonville for quality and performance issues (not checked until after the fact, and not true either. Shame on Cohen for the representation, shame on us for taking her at her word).
4.  Angie's List:  We found this contractor on Angie's List.  We found the contractor's performance completely out of line with the expectation created by the reviews on the site.  And we weren't offered an Angie's List discount (forget about a customer price adjustment for uninstalled lighting and other off the shelf items not delivered).  Look elsewhere.

Response from CLOSET FACTORY

"I am sorry your complete experience did not meet your expectations. It seems the garage was a success but as we discussed in person your expectations of the wall unit were not in line with the product selected and delivered. You did admit to me you made a mistake and should have ordered granite not a HPL material since you have only granite in your home. Also the the material ordered is a Melamine structure our standard base level material, often clients will opt to use wood or wood /melamine blended systems, an option which does come at a higher cost. In regards to our designer, she is one of best reviewed designers and has consistent high marks from the clients through out the Jacksonville market. I am sorry your particular experience was not up to our normal standard. Jack Green President"

Roxanne was our salesperson at Closet Factory.  We enjoyed working with her.  She was very professional and explained every detail.  The quality of the closet system is outstanding.  We didn't think there was anyway we would be able to get everything we wanted in our closet and we actually have some areas that aren't being used - which is a great surprise.
The garage cabinets are perfect and the quality is great.  The epoxy floor looks wonderful.  We went with a gray/white/black combination on the floor and black/gray cabinets.  We did have to have the garage floor resealed again because several areas were missed on the initial application.  However, they came out promptly and fixed the problem.  We believe you really find out what kind of company you are working with when problems are promptly addressed and corrected.
We wouldn't hesitate to use this company again and would certainly want Roxanne to be our salesperson.

I will give them F all the way. That place is terrible. I will never recommend and do business with them again. Their workmanship is the crappiest, when you tell them try to give the correct stuff. I am so upset with my wife for even allowing them in my house. I can say, if there is a negative F, I will give them. It is actually terrible. Their workmanship is actually the worst. I do not know how they got an A rating on Angie’s list. I cannot believe that they only came to my house and did the shitty and terrible work and quality. They must come back to my house. I refuse to pay the final payment to get them to come back. And still did not fix it right. I did not hear from them again. Never quick to give them to come back and finish or correct anything. The last time was August this year. The price was high but the quality of work they provided and the actual product is not worth the money to pay.
Response from CLOSET FACTORY

"[member name removed],,, I am sorry you are unhappy with your experience with us. We made multiple trips back to your home to resolve all the issues per your wife's requests. Our design and contract was with her and the sewing room project was built and designed to her specifications. We addressed ever issue down to the smallest mark on a shelf underneath the back of the desk top, caulking against the floor in the back of the unit, we even had your flooring company return to resolve a mark on the floor that they admitted was not anything we at Closet Factory ever created...We tried our best, you refused to pay us the balance after we completed the last issue, I am not sure what else we could have done. I only wish I could post pictures to show the quality of the unit after completion."

Bonnie came out and had us scheduled for a 2 hour appointment. After taking the measurements for both jobs and deciding the details she then proceeded to draw up the diagrams and developing the quote. She finished the quote for the study and started the one for the family room, but then had to leave to go to another appointment. She told us she would send the other quote later that day, but we never heard from her again. We decided to go with someone else who had an all wood design vs particle board and who was much more responsive, even though more expensive.
Response from CLOSET FACTORY

"Dear [member name removed], I am the owner of Closet Factory and apologize we did not meet our normal response standards for your project. No excuse, we did not get back to you sooner and I am very sorry we lost your business. Bonnie just ran out of time during the initial appointment and did not get back to you with completed designs soon enough. If I can help in any way moving forward please feel free to ask for me at our office so I can help.We value all our Angie's List members and strive to maintain high standards for all our clients."

The plans were drawn up.  I met with the designer and the worked commenced with me out of town.  When I moved in all was ready for my clothes to be hung and put in drawers.  I needed some additional work which was done after I arrived.  Some glitches with this work but handled efficiently.

I contacted her when i hadn't gotten the designs 10 days later. She promised to get back in touch when she returned. I sent a note giving her a good time to call to schedule. 6 weeks later, she sent me an email asking me to meet her at the home show 45 minutes from my home to see the designs. I was actually busy that day and emailed back. I have not heard from her again. Eventually I hired Island Woodworking to install the master closets and shelving in the TV out cove. I still do not have my pantry, second bedroom closet or the closet under the stairs. i am very disappointed that I have not been able to get the designs which sounded interesting so that i might hire this company.

This company is great.  Martha, the designer, comes in to draw the plans.  She spends as much time as needed and never seemed rushed.  She has a great ability to take what you are saying and convert it to a design.  Our installer was Jaime and he was  awesome.  He did both our project, was very professional and courteous and timely.  I gave this company an A for price, but in all honesty, we did not even compare with other companies so I do not know how their price compares.  But it was in our budget and we liked what we saw.

The installer show up on time and explained to me what he was going to do and  how long will it take to performed his job.
Then he  went into every detail to my expectation. After an hour or so  the Connie the sales represantive show up at my house to see how everything were going.
She explained everything to me. At the end of the installation I could not believe how beautiful everything look.
Then I proceed to put everything in the closet.  To my surprise, everything fit and I still have more room to fill.
It is not cheap but It is all worth it. I am glad I have decided to do.the job..
