Fishhawk Landscape & Irrigation

I had a very disappointing experience with contractor Daniel Ruiz. He was hired to reposition and repair the sprinkler system, but instead, his team dislodged a pipe, creating a larger problem. After multiple calls and messages, he eventually agreed to return and fix the issue. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse — water now bursts from the sides of the sprinkler instead of flowing properly, causing soil erosion and the collapse of two tiles in the area. Despite continued outreach and reminders, Daniel failed to take responsibility or follow through. His only response was that he would stop by “tomorrow,” but that day has yet to come — and there have been no further updates. I cannot recommend this contractor. The lack of accountability and poor communication reflect extremely unprofessional service. Proceed with caution.

It went really well.

As soon as I submitted my request for a pro through Angie's List, I received a call from Daniel, who appears to be the owner, in regards to my request for help. After describing the problem to him, he indicated he could stop by within 48 hours. However, he called me back a few minutes later to say he actually was finishing up a job and could stop over immediately after securing a replacement controller should one be needed. He evaluated my controller and found some of the components to be fried, most likely from lightening. Thanks to his foresight he had the right replacement on his truck, and he was able to replace the unit on the spot. Then Daniel walked me through setting the unit up and its operation, making sure I understood how to use all the buttons. Next he checked out my irrigation system and found some of the heads were damaged. At my request, he made the repairs quickly and efficiently, so in the end I had a new controller and my irrigation system received a fall check-up. Daniel was a total gentleman, seemed very experienced in regards to landscaping, and was very knowledgable about the irrigation system. He responded immediately to my request for help, and fixed my system quickly. His price for his services was very competitive. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

The work was scheduled immediately for three days after the initial meeting so timeliness was excellent; diagnosis was on target. Daniel and the crew did a quality job and checked thoroughly to make sure the needed areas were receiving proper water coverage. The only thing missing for me was that if I call for an estimate of the cost, I would like to compare it to that of other vendors. I did not have an opportunity to do so. In the future I will make a decision after getting at least three estimates.

My neighbor and I had our trees trimmed. The landscaper left a mess of the branches in the street in front of our homes. I cleaned up my pile and fortunately the city picked it up. My neighbor's pile still remains in the street as an eyesore for our neighborhood. This has been 2 weeks and my neighbor has contacted landscaper several times for cleanup and removal to which has still not been done. I also had an estimate for resod of my front yard, I wanted the landscaper to come review the lawn with me first before giving the green light for installation. It has also been nearly 2 weeks since the landscaper was to have reviewed the lawn. Fortunately, I made the time to finish the sod myself. My first impression of this business was friendly and professional, that has all changed in the past few weeks with the tree branch mess and the lack of customer service with sod and follow-up. I will not recommend or use their services again. See for yourself, the attached picture of the leftover mess from my neighbor's tree trimming from this landscape company.

Price was very reasonable for cleanup, removing Spanish Moss from all our hedges, weeding, and cleaning up and a whole month of service.  Also came out a few weeks later mulched beds.  Daniel was out with his crew supervising, and made sure he listened to us with how we wanted everything maintained.

The lawn began looking so bad that I got a second opinion.  Although Fishhawk was charging me for weed control and fertilizer, it seems they never did it.  One tiny patch is left alive of my St. Augustine grass here, and everything else is dying and overrun with crabgrass and weeds, even though we just resodded the yard three years ago.
