Estimate was $800 to $1600 and final would be based on parts and labor. Actual price was $1200. At disconnect, 4 guys showed up, dug 2 holes and cut lines. As main supply line was part of job, water at street was shut off and main supply line capped.
this cost $187. Only needed 1 or 2 guys.
At reconnect, I showed them where the holes were dug to find the lines. The lead guy could not find the main supply. He and I chased line and dug holes for about 30 min. I went back to the hole where the lines were exposed and pulled on the pipes - they moved. For what ever reason, the guys that cut the lines decided to cut them again and cap the main 3 ft closer to the street. And then bury those useless pieces in their original positions. Once this was solved, the 4 man crew efficiently ran the new pipe, installed the new heads and tested the system. It has worked fine. This process was $1000 for a total of $1187.
