It's on 40 acres and owned by the former owner of Grossinger's in New York State. My aunt was the person who actually made the decision to live there. I had done a lot of research over the internet and all over. I got her all kinds of brochures of very lovely places, but her friend had been living for a short while at Forest Trace. We've been there a few times and it's really beautiful. They have an adjoining facility that will handle assisted living if you need it. They have a nurse on the premises, but everything is aimed at independent living. A lot of people do use walkers, but they don't need a nurse to take care of them all day or all night. They have a piano and a piano player. The people who can still dance sometimes they do. They have a dining room that we haven't eaten at yet, but it looks like a fancy restaurant with table cloths and nice napkins on the tables that sits four to six people. There's waiter service Friday night and thy have services that cater to your religion. It's actually fabulous. Her apartment has a l 1/2 bedroom with a beautiful living room going into a dining room just like any modern apartment. They redid her kitchen for her and it's terrific. Her bedroom is really gorgeous and it's size is probably 12 x 14 which is a nice size. She has another smaller bedroom that has a bathroom off of it and it's like a den. She has a desk, couch, televisions, and everything else. Every morning or evening they check on every single unit to make sure that the person is okay. They serve breakfast and dinner. They have a main reception desk for somebody that comes in and want to ask about it for their family. There's a terrific salesperson and she'll sit you down in a separate room. You'll talk about it and what the accommodations are, so the information is totally available. If you call they would answer and whatever you need they would refer you or talk to you or say come in for an appointment. They take their time with you and nobody is left off. They have people cleaning every single room once a week. She did fall, but that was because she was wearing the wrong kind of shoes and slipped. She's okay and only bruised her leg, but they have a nurse on call and don't leave you to your own devices with no assistance whatsoever. When I use the word beautiful it is beautiful. The adornments all over are very artistic and colorful. It's like your're in a good hotel. All the carpeting on the floor is lovely and the elevators are great. The parking accommodations are plentiful. My aunt still has her car although she's going to give it up soon. You or your love one can expect a full life with many activities and game rooms. They have card rooms and you could sit and drink wine in another room. They have a golf course, tennis, and a gorgeous swimming pool. They have stone walkways throughout the property. There's nothing amiss and if they want to call they can. You don't have to be a millionaire to be there because one of the nice things is that they don't ask you for a huge amount of entry money, but you do pay rent. I think she has an upper level apartment and her rent was slightly reduced. They had a bargain at that time and it was $3,200 a month, but bear in mind this amount comes with breakfast and dinner every single day. Your room is cleaned and you have people watching over you. Everything is cleaned including the hallway. The staff exercises a huge amount of patients because it's a community of people anywhere from 80 to 90 plus. They seem to be astute and looking out for what happens around them with the people. They're also pretty punctual. My aunt wanted some pictures put up in her kitchen to make it homey and it only took them about a day to do it for her. We were in the elevator a couple of weeks ago with a man that was around 82 years old. He was a successful businessman that had sold his house and wasn't sure where to go for a year while he was building another home. He chose Forest Trace to live for one year and was delightfully happy. He had a wonderful time there and at the end of the year his accommodations were ready and he had to move. My aunt doesn't walk with a walker or cane and has been living there for six months. They also have buses that take you to various shopping areas if you want to buy groceries or clothing. They even take you to the local doctors in the area. There were a couple of particular things like they weren't stopping at the place where my aunt wanted to get special cosmetics, but that's not a big major thing and I suggested another product for her. Since it was difficult for her to get we're going up there and we'll bring her a couple of other things that she might want. There's a lot of people there, so you can't satisfy every single solitary person. Nobody wants to grow old and this is someplace that takes care of you. If I didn't have somebody to take care of me I would absolutely consider being there because I feel comfortable in my own surroundings which are lovely and would know that I'll have all the basic necessities.
Description of Work: My 93 year old aunt is living at Forest Trace which is an independent living facility.
