I was very happy with my experience with Live Wire. They were prompt and stayed within the amount quoted despite a minor change needed. They were professional and cleaned up after themselves. They made sure to keep me informed while working of when electricity would be off and kept in mind I work from home and tried to limit the amount of time the electricity was off. I was impressed with the installation of the can lights as originally I was informed they would have to cut a long part of my ceiling out in order to feed wires through but in the end there was not a single hole other than the ones the cans went into. I would highly recommend Live Wire and will use them in the future if I ever need additional electrical work done.

From the first phone call with Lori, this company was a pleasure to deal with. I explained our needs and Lori set up an appointment. The electricians came out exactly as planned, on time and they called before they arrived as I requested. They assessed my electricial needs and efficiently completed the tasks that we needed. The new kitchen light is awesome. Both guys were professional and very nice. I will use Live Wire for all future electrical needs.

I like them. They have quick response time. They're friendly, seem knowledgeable. It cost us nothing. It was through the home warranty program. We had used them several years ago.

Outstanding work {hot up in the attic, yet they were so good natured!}  We felt confidence in them as well as comfortable
being with them.  They also pulled the city permit which later passed the inspection as expected.

The electrician was very professional and helpful.  He explained, patiently, how our home receives electric.  We wanted to be sure a previous broken neutral of Duke's coming into our home had not damaged the electrical system.  It was a coincidence that we had used Live Wire to install new breaker boxes, a generator supply, and whole home surge protector.  We had been very pleased with the service they provided for that.  This time was the same.  He checked everything I had a question about, and more, to assure me things were working as they should be.

We have used this company a couple of times before to fix light switches and diagnose outside light issue. This visit the electrician put in a new light switch for us that has needed to be replaced for awhile. The old one would not always come on and you had to fiddle with the switch. Concerned that would be a fire hazard we called to have Live Wire out. The electrician arrived promptly within the time specified. He was courteous, professional and helpful (we have other questions about some other minor issues going on) It wasn't a large job per se but something that needed to be done and needed to be done fairly soon. We do have bigger jobs in the future though and will definitely use this company again for those.

Owner is an excellent businessman as well as electrician with vast experience and an outstanding team of master electricians and assistants.  Their work is top quality and a significant contrast from what we have experienced with other local electricians.  Although a substantial company you get to work directly with the owner, who has an ethic of exceptional customer service, and flexibility to meet each customer's unique needs.  When there is an unexpected deadline to be met his team was always willing to go the extra mile, working extra hours including weekends.

The repair appeared to have been done correctly.  The installation was neat and appears solid.  All breakers are legibly labeled.  However, once the power was reconnected after the repair the dishwasher didn't work.  The dishwasher had worked fine right up to the morning of the repair.  It is what happened next that was highly disappointing.  I called Livewire to explain to them that the dishwasher stopped working during their repair, and witnessed what had been a friendly tone of customer service change into a something I would describe as defensive hostility.  I wound up on the phone with the owner, who categorically denied that his technicians could have caused any problems that would have affected any electrical appliances.  Even though he was forced to concede that there were scenarios where this was possible (accidentally connecting a 220V current to 110V during the rewiring), he assured me that he had already talked to his guys and they promised him it did not happen.  During the entire conversation, the owner repeatedly offered explanations to me using highly-technical terms which appeared to intend to confuse and intimidate me more than to shed light on the subject.  On my own, I hired a separate appliance repair specialist to come out and inspect the dishwasher.  Lo and behold, the problem was electrical: the dishwasher was only receiving 74 of 110V.  As I said, it was obviously getting 110V from the electrical service before the repair, as it was working.  When I called them and told them this was the problem, the owner again reiterated that this couldn't possibly be something they would have caused, but that he would be happy to charge me for another service call to investigate the problem.  Imagine that!!! But no, thanks.

Although I don't understand all of the details of this highly technical subject, ultimately, it isn't even the fact that the dishwasher isn't working that concerns me.  It is possible, although the coincidence seems extraordinary, that some other bizzare problem with the electricity arose at the precise moment that they were conducting their repair (as the owner suggested by way of explanation).  What really bothers me is that as their customer, when I had a legitimate problem I wanted to discuss with them, their manner of customer service (categorical and reflexive denials, highly-technical smokescreens in lieu of lay terms, etc) makes me question whether or not they would take ANY problem seriously.  Rather that making me feel like a customer, at the first sign of trouble they made me feel more like an unwelcome pest - although they were happy to take our AMEX for payment.

If you call Livewire, expect the friendly service to end at the first sign of trouble.  Don't expect them to be a partner in investigating follow-on issues.  And, lastly, make sure you have a good electrical engineering lexicon available if you talk to the owner - who either cannot, or simply refuses to, explain things to his customers in terms they can understand.

The project manager came to my condo in Dec. to advise me of needed/recommended work and related charges. I made it clear that I was on a fixed budget and needed to know all associated costs before making a decision on what work to get done, how to pay for it (it was an extra 5% if credit card used), and even making the decision as to which company to use. This company was advertised as a Progress Energy affiliate and a member of the Better Business Online Reliability program, so I thought I couldn't go wrong (this was before I knew about Angie's List). I called the company in Feb and asked if the proposal prices would still be good if I committed to getting the work done within the next few weeks, and was told yes, if I signed the proposal and faxed it to them, which I did. The work was scheduled for March 21. The technician showed up at 8 am, the promised time. He was polite and tried to be mindful of any mess being made, asking for a broom so that he could clean up the plaster chips falling on the wood floor (I still had to do cleanup later). He didn't volunteer info, but if I asked, he answered my questions politely. The first shock came when he "finished up" and wrote up the invoice. Since the new panel was in the same place as the old one, but turned to face out into the hallway instead of into the bedroom linen closet, the wok had involved taking out a piece of the drywall in the hallway. I had expected that my place would be the same as before, only with the electrical improvements in place. What I found was a half inch high jagged gap at the top front of the new panel, through which I could see the wires in the wall, and a large rectangular hole in the bedroom closet which exposed the metal back of the new panel. I asked the technician "what about these holes?" He said, "you just get someone who does drywall - it shouldn't be more than an hour's work...we don't do patching." Because I was shocked as well as low on sleep for other reasons, I just said "I'll see if I can get someone to look at it". I did, and that person confirmed what I already thought - that the "no-patching" should have been told to me at the time of the estimate, because that would be part of the cost and would have to be taken into account in selecting a company. I called the company on the next business day (Mon) - was unable get the rep who gave the estimate until Wed. He tried to put me off, but I stood my ground that I should have been told and it was not my responsibility. He finally ungraciously agreed to have someone return to do the bare-minimum patching needed to pass inspection. So, the tech returned and did the patching. Did it pass inspection? No! It was red-tagged because there was no surge protection and the meter was not labeled. It did finally pass the 2nd inspection. The company did not call me to update me on what was going on - I had to continually call them. They didn't even inform me that the red tag issue was fixed and ready for re-inspection.
